Hi, haven't been to a Jeep dealership in awhile. Does anyone know, can some confirm exactly what axles now come in a 25' Willys? Does the front come with U-Joints or CV style inners? Is the front and rear both a Dana 44 now? If the rear is the same as Rubicon does that mean it is full float and geared at 4.10?

Thank you Willy gurus.

It depends upon your trim. Before you purchase your JL Willys, look at the vehicle build sheet and look for axle information. If it isn't readily apparent or not listed, take a picture or write down the VIN. Then ask the sales person or a service tech about what you want to know. Once you purchase your new Jeep, you'll set up an online account with MOPAR. Then you'll enter your user name and password and navigate the online resource for everything about your new Jeep.

When I purchased my 24 JL Willys it was equipped with the Rubicon trim and I asked the dealer and service department about the axles. The basic answer was yes, it came with Dana 44 front and rear with full float and 4.10.

However, when you start looking in the build list for Dana 44, what you'll discover, and the way that the Jeep service techs explained it to me is that the new JL models come with redesigned Dana 44 axles. According to the techs, the JL models are slightly wider than the JK models. Therefore, on the build sheet you will see references to Dana M210 and M220 axels.

Regarding your question about about U-Joints and/or CV style... the front drive shaft connects to the Dana axle with a U-Joint and on the other end with a Rzeppa Joint. The rear drive shaft uses a pair of, I believe, double cardan cv joints.

Since I have driven manual transmissions most of my life, I was planning on getting my new Jeep with... a manual transmission. However, just before I purchased it, I rented a new Jeep for a couple of thousand mile trip. The rental company provided me with a new Jeep that had the 8 speed automatic transmission. I drove it and my mind was changed. When I purchased my new Jeep I purchased it with the 8 speed auto and haven't looked back. I have really enjoyed driving it.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck to you.

Dennis

I'd also like to know for sure about the U joints vs CV meaning up there at the knuckles. It won't sway my decision because there's always RCV but it would be nice to know.

My 2024 Willys 22W option came with the Dana 44 Heavy Duty Wide Axles front and rear. Not the full-float axles the Rubicon has. 4.10 gears and rear locker. The front has CV joint (see image) I do not believe there was a change for the 22W option in 2025 for the 2024

I wonder if the 22W with X changes anything besides height and going up to 4.56’s.
