I was getting error messages pertaining to auxiliary switches unavailable, and have replaced the chassis battery 3 times.

Dealer told me it was the auxiliary battery.

I took it to my local repair guy who dropped the fender liner and pulled the auxiliary battery case. It was empty! No cables, nothing. Case looked like a battery was never there.

Any advice here? Everything is saw online indicated that auxiliary battery was under the fuse block, accessible thru the fender liner.

Bizarre. Help?

You may not have one at all. A friend of mine does not have etorque and did not have an auxiliary battery either or cables

You or your local repair guy can take a quick look under the Jeep and know if you have a secondary etorque battery. Jeeps with the etorque battery still have the empty battery box in the passenger fender area that would otherwise hold a secondary 12 volt battery. From the factory you would have one of the two secondary batterys. The small auxiliary 12 volt battery in the fender area can be deleted.

2019 2.0t should have etorque, ours did. The dealers are still clueless... not surprised. They told me both batteries needed replaced, I said ok, but the 48v etorque battery has an 8 year 80k mile warranty as it's considered emissions equipment. Further being that it is the charging system for the 12v I'm not payong for that one either if the 48v is bad
The service writer said no, both 12v batteries tested bad. Etorque Jeeps don't have 2 12v batteries sir? My tech said he tested them both... Your tech is either a liar and blatantly trying to rip me off, or the 48v battery is bad so let me know. An hour later "it was only the 12v main battery that was bad and we changed it free of charge". And that was the last time I let the dealer touch one of our Jeeps.

I had not heard of the JL Wrangler series coming from the factory without two batteries.

I had heard of people wanting the JL Wrangler series to come with only one battery from the factory. I guess that's not really important or relevant to this discussion though. Hope that helps, indeedy.

I think between the two of us we can work together to confuse a great many people here.

They were either etorque or had both 12v batteries until supply chain bs post covid. At that point they were all over the map. I don't think the 392s get 2 batteries but I'm not 100%. Beyond that it's not that easy anymore. If it has the etorque, it doesn't have the aux. If it isn't etorque it probably has the aux battery but not always.

Was the condition of vehicle's main 12V battery (I presume that's what you mean when you say "chassis battery") such that replacement absolutely necessary each time? If so, that's one heck of a parasitic draw, or perhaps a malfunctioning charging system, that needs to be confirmed and reconciled as soon as practical.

Thanx... Yes, the main 12v battery. AAA tested out the battery and charging system. The battery was definitely dead (9.8v). I need a more deep dive on the charging system. Agree on the possibility of parasitic draws. I've added a light bar, an RV tow package, and an auxiliary braking system. Front/rear dash cams are both switched.

Interesting the many responses on the lack of the auxiliary battery. I am the original owner, bought new from a dealer in Tustin CA. I am absolutely certain this vehicle came from the factory with only one battery.
