For all of you saying how bad the setup of the auxiliary for the ESS system 2nd battery is. I have something here to share with you. Here’s the auxiliary battery I replaced out of my 2020 Jeep Wrangler. Dated from 2019 production. The only reason I changed it out is because winter is coming and I don’t take chances after 4 years of use. I had no signs of battery issues at all. I changed it out because I always think of maintenance 1st over anything else. Here’s the results after removal from the test. A1 condition after few years use and 76k, can’t complain.?

Wow! Do you turn off your auto start/stop when driving or have it disabled by any other device? If not, I wonder if we drive them the way they were designed actually improves the lifespan.

I just changed mine out too. It was 4 years old - not giving any issues, but I didn’t want to have any issues with winter

if anyone hasn’t changed one out and is planning on it, it’s a pain for sure. Not really hard, just a lot harder than it probably really needed to be.

Dang! $350+ (US) for a battery. ?
I’m not so much a price guy. If it works well and keeps it reliable. My motto is stick with good brands that are proven. Could care less about paying 100-200 more for quality products. Don’t get me wrong, if it’s going to leave me broke and couldn’t do it I’d make other decisions but otherwise, not doing it.

I don't have the auxiliary battery but from what I've read your aux battery is an anomaly.

good question, nope never turn it off but often ESS doesn’t kick in when I’m not wearing my seatbelt ?? but I believe use the vehicle like it’s designed to be used with the features it’s equipped with. Don’t modify things and don’t f*!? around with things. The Jeep never sat for long periods of time since day one I bought it. Use it daily and every day. It gets its exercise daily more than myself. I need to start pulling and carrying my Jeep to reciprocate the workload. I might be as reliable and strong as my Jeep ???

Not using your seatbelt so the ESS doesn't work and/or turning it off, wouldn't that be the same concept?

Pretty sure mine are going out, 29k miles.

I’ve got constant message of stop start not ready…battery charging.

I even get warnings about aux ports being temporarily unavailable because of battery charging.

read this means my aux is probably toast, and the main isn’t far behind.

dealer appt Monday. We’ll see if they’ll warrantee them since the jeep is less than 2 yrs old. I’ve got hinge bubbles and a non-retracting rear seatbelt that I’d like to warranty as well.

I used to get the warning that the aux battery was charging and it would take forever to charge. Then I swapped the main battery with a new one and no longer get that warning message. I haven’t changed the aux yet and luckily hasn’t given me any issues yet

I was getting those messages so I went ahead and replaced both. Seems to have done the trick.

Two years ago I was getting the not ready/charging message. I left ESS on for a couple months instead of turning it off every time. Haven't seen that message since. I make sure to turn it on any time I take longer trips (at least 80 miles highway)—seems to do the trick. At least half my driving (mileage) is longer trips.

I wonder how many of the problems people have with the little battery stems from keeping ESS off all the time.
