Autostart eliminator or Smart startstop

My avatar is actually my old JK. But on my JL I’m running 35s. I don’t like the Tazer because of SGW issue. I also didn’t want the hassle of unmarry/remarry a Tazer every time I take my jeep into a dealer. I use an AEV procal because all I needed was to change tire and psi settings. The Smart Stopstart fixed something I find annoying, ESS.

Why not train yourself to hit the ESS button, give yourself $1 every time your hand pushes the button as it moves from "Start" to gearshift / handbrake, it is literally RIGHT THERE.
Pretty soon, after $5 worth, muscle memory, and you have all that cash for a really useful gift for the Jeep...

It would be a great idea…. But I drink often

I saw a video on YouTube where you can disconnect the second (backup) hood open sensor and that killed the auto start/stop without effecting the other systems like remote start. I’m going to try this weekend.

Within a month of purchasing my JL I installed the Smart StopStart module and have had no issues with it over the past year. I'm very glad I made the purchase.

There are a few options for to disable ESS ranging from pulling a hood switch (remote start won’t work) to using a Tazer or similar to disable it. I have been using the Smart Stop/Start from Steve and it’s been in almost 3 years and has never failed and for the rest of my needs I use JSCAN.

... honestly I don’t see why it’s not designed like some of the other cars I own where its a simple push button that stays on all the time unless you push it again to turn it off ?‍ ...

I had this same question, and I was talking to someone who made a good point (accuracy unknown). If the ESS feature does not automatically enable each and every time, they cannot use it for their emissions controls to meet the ridiculous eco-freak requirements for cars.

Yep. After learning that the non-ratcheting ESS switch was compelled by emissions regulation compliance, I couldn't click Buy Now fast enough for the Auto Start/Stop Eliminator.

If the EPA fires a shot across the bow, we fire back.

Was talking SmartStopStart (TERRIFIC OFFERING) with a JL owner yesterday, when I remembered your forum posts and that you, after forum research, wisely opted to go with the SmartStopStart offering.

SO, did you get it installed and what do you think?

Yes, Steve ship it out promptly and had it installed in like 5 minutes! It’s an awesome gadget I now don’t have to worry about remembering to turn off the start stop feature everytime I get in the jeep to go anywhere, working great! It comes with everything you need to install it and keep it in place. So far so good! ? thanks
