That is one of my big complaints about the Jeep. I really dislike having those switches in the center of the dash and for the life of me I can't figure out why they did not put them on the doors, at least on the front ones. I mean you've got to disconnect the wiring harness to remove the doors anyways what the hell difference does it make if there's another wire running through.
What if you want to remove the front doors but not the rear? What if you went with front half doors to save money? Even the Foal went to central switches. It just feels right anyways. Whenever I drive my wife's CX5 I can't figure out how to roll down the windows for like 5 seconds. haha.

:) I have the same problem! My daily driver is my Tundra with window controls on the door. When I drive the Jeep it takes me a few seconds to figure out the controls. Even then I continually find myself reaching for controls on the door. I think the last car I owned that didn't have window controls on the door was my 87 BMW 325is and I sold that in 85.

1st of all, I have this product. It makes the Jeep feel like a normal vehicle. Auto Up and down in the rear is the real feature. I also like that locking via FOB also closes all windows. I enjoy it.

No squeeze protection with that offering so very unsafe...
I tested "Stop" both with and without this feature. It doesn't reverse direction, but it does stop with light pressure applied to glass. I didn't honestly feel any difference between it and factory. And as I said in the other post, disabling the "Rear window control" reverts rear windows to operating the normal way from the front, so if you have kids, just disable the feature. They get no control in back, and you get it back to hold down for up and down.

Regardless.... I would not install this particular product as it has no pinch protection and thus very unsafe.

My values/thoughts on this, are undoubtedly shaped by many years working in the ER.

Before pinch protection on automatic windows was a reality, I had many a sobbing parent tell me .... ..... .....

Anyway, this offering has no pinch protection and thus would be a no go for me. And... and I'm not saying pinch protection always stops injuries/deaths..

Does the Jeep itself have pinch protection? I tried it in a friends Jeep with a pencil in the window jam and snapped the pencil in 1/2.

Also the window switch location, and in other vehicles, the redo of how the switches work is the biggest preventer of pinched fingers/necks/paws/whatever.

Glad to hear you never speed too. :)

What makes you think he was referring to "challenged folks"?

Lighten up Francis.

kinda where it originated from, not against the law to say it just a word you don’t hear very often based on its origin,

So, would this be usable for those of us that don't have extra doors? Didn't see a different version on the linked website. Maybe just not hooking up the auxiliary door connectors will be OK?

You mean a 2 door model? I am not sure it will work, the connector I assume is different. The kit only uses 1 plug into the window controller.

As for the windows - I’ve been tempted because I really, really miss this. I use sign language a bit with my family and every second for a free hand matters. But the safety sacrifice wouldn’t make sense for my situation. I also may be biased - I remember an old vehicle where I had a bad actuator and that thing was so finicky to replace that I probably still have some scars from that process too ?

@jdhunt0, I noticed you hadn’t contributed to the topic yet. Any thoughts or experience to share to help us get back on topic?
I have used the DEI module that works with their alarms a long time ago on other vehicles I have owed. It seems that you could adjust the sensitivity of the safety stop by removing internal resisters if I remember right. Never had a problem with them.

If I were not leaving on a 4000+ mile road trip in less than two weeks I would try one out now. Just does not seem like the right time to tear my dash apart.

I am the only one in my Jeep 95% of the time and I have not once rolled my own arm or any other appendage into the window so safety limits or not I’m willing to try it.

I mean you've got to disconnect the wiring harness to remove the doors anyways what the hell difference does it make if there's another wire running through.
If they put window switches on the doors, they would be in protruding pods. If these doors had protruding pods, I think a lot more of us would be bitching about the lack of leg room. I think that's why Chrysler put the controls in the center stack. The Jeep actually feels reasonably roomy, even though it's quite narrow.

I would, but it isnt worth the time ripping apart the dash, and me potentially screwing something else up.

I’ll just hold the button and keep a $100 in my pocket.
Oh c'mon man, there are people who have spent twice that amount so that they don't have to press a single button to turn off ESS. Jeepers are weird. ?

A central switch location is:

-Safer for pets and children
-Allows the passenger to control ALL the windows while the driver is driving, which is very handy with children
-Simplifies vehicle wiring
-Simplifies door design

I remember last summer when the passenger side window on my Ford Mustang stopped working. I replaced the passenger door switch and guess what? No dice. Turns out I had to replace the driver side switch block, the whole thing, to make the passenger side window work. What a PITA. And it taught me that the wiring on many vehicles where the switches are on individual doors is a nightmare to figure out.
