Another thing I think is odd... the Jeep Cares guy that calls me to follow my case is only aware of one other case like this. He is “following” my problem, and one other one in a Jeep on the East Coast. He also doesn’t seem to read these threads. It was news to him - despite being mentioned in this thread - that the backup camera lines disappears when the radio is acting up.
His lack of awareness of the scope of the problem is troubling. If all of the available information is not being gathered in a single place and reviewed by competent engineers, the solution will be a much longer time coming, at the expense of a lot of unnecessary aggravation and wasted time and money.
I totally agree! I have told the local dealer and got the same story (never heard this problem), @JeepCares, same, FCA guy on the phone, same ... I eventually sent the dealer a link to this site. I even mentioned the lack of communication in survey that the dealer insisted I take to rate the dealership on my recent purchase. Surely with all of these post giving details someone should be able to narrow this down and find a fix.

Bought my JL less than two months ago and the same thing started happening less than a week ago, but then the next time I started my Jeep ...it was fine. Today is another story though! I’ve tried to do the reset that was suggested and still having problems. Someone please help me!

I really haven't noticed the backup lines not being there when the radio issue acts up but I will note that in the future. I did pick up my Wrangler today (Saturday, after 4 days in the shop) even though the dealership wanted to keep it. We are scheduled for maybe 10 inches of snow and winds, and I did not want to be stuck with a small FWD subcompact loaner. So after the weather clears, I'll need to take it back to the dealer.
Here's what I received Monday (1/28) from my dealer service guy:
"Chrysler informed us that they have received a few logs from customers with the same issue. They are currently evaluating the information to rectify the concern. If we need additional info, they will set up a flash drive for us to install in your jeep to gather data. At this present moment they are hoping to find a fix with the data they have received. I will let you know as soon as we hear anything from Chrysler"
While I'd like to get this resolved immediately, I believe my dealer is in communication with Chrysler and will get this resolved. Not much else I can do. In the mean time, mine has not acted up, but I will check for lack of back-up lines if/when it does happen again.

Mine has been acting up all week. Last week wasn't so bad, but this week I've had to drive to work with no radio which is very frustrating. I did notice though, that when it is acting up, the backup camera lines DO disappear. I put it in reverse just to see, and it does act up. So if any SERVICE SPECIALISTS are reading, there must be some correlation. The days the radio does work, the backup camera lines are back on. Very strange.
But this needs to be fixed ASAP!

I reported the backup lines disappearing as well and this seems to be the case with most all. Another variable others have noted is cold temperatures. Now I know some that live in warmer areas are also having these issues which doesn't match. However just this morning it was about 10 degrees outside and my Jeep was parked on a carport so it was sheltered from the wind and everything was fine. I started it up and drove about 10 minutes to meet someone. When I returned about 45 minutes later the radio issues returned when I started the vehicle. This has happened numerous times over the past few weeks when the temps have been below 30 degrees ... could be nothing but thought I would share just in case someone is researching.

Wish there was an answer to give you however you are one of many with this problem. If you read back on this thread you can see all the suggested fixes really haven't helped so far. The likelihood that this is a program issue remains. Believe me we share in your frustration!

I'm still troubleshooting this problem myself... very frustrating. Especially on a new car. My question is... has anyone with brand new cars with this problem asked for money back or restitutions for all these issues? I mean under the Lemon Law, if you have to bring a car back 3 times for same issue and not fixed, you can legally return it... A nonfunctional computer is a big issue that lowers the value of the car. Any thoughts?
I’ve been wondering the same thing (maybe even a class action lawsuit.) Love the vehicle, but very frustrating not to have music and backup lines. Zero consistency on my end. (The last couple of days it’s been sub zero and no problems. I think it’s safe to eliminate cold as contributing factor.)

So I made it a week or so in the 20s. Warmed up to the 30s but now the radio is acting back up and the lines are gone. Interesting today my display did flash brightly once as I started backing out the driveway. Never noted this before. Emailed Jeep Care’s (or not) today.

3 days in a row my radio has not worked in the morning on startup. (It has been extremely cold here in the Northeast though) Same issue, backup lines disappearing when radio cutting in and out. I'm fuming over here. (My morning commute w/out a radio is frustrating) I was on the phone w/ Jeep yesterday, because the dealership told me to call them since they don't have a solution for me, and they said someone would be in touch with me because they "escalated" my case. So no new information on my end... if I get any news, I will update this feed.

This is going on with other vehicles with the 8.4 UConnect system. RAM truck owners don't seem to be very happy either... https://5thgenrams.com/community/th...t-pauses-in-audio-for-all-sources.3822/page-5

We need to make some noise otherwise this will drag on. I'll probably post a YouTube video soon with the Uconnect issues, maybe start getting some likes and spread the word. Some social media bashing might make them work a little harder to get this resolved.

Yes, that’s my thread. I’ve posted that link multiple times here before. I’ve shared this thread and the other from this forum on the RAM threads I’ve created.

I understand that there may be parts sharing across vehicle sub-brands, but after all the troubleshooting from both forums, I believe this is a software issue.

My "Jeep Cares" person called me yesterday and said that they are going to send a FCA engineer to my dealership to look at the problem. That's the latest. And mine has been fine since Thursday, January 17, 2019

So today my radio worked fine but my back up active and fixed lines were gone. Checked settings and they were check3d on. Ran multiple errands today and no lines....

Thought I would just add my issues to the thread.

Radio issues:
  • Radio will randomly not work. No matter how many times I start and stop the vehicle the radio will not play any sound, no matter what the input.
USB will randomly stop working
  • USB plugs will randomly stop working. I will go to the gym in the morning and have no issues, come back out an hour later and the USB in the glove box will not work but the one on the dash will work.
  • While on a road trip all the USB ports stopped working. Parked the Jeep overnight and they all started working in the morning.
12v in the rear stopped working.
  • 12v plug in the back of the Jeep no longer works.
Rearview camera:
  • Rearview camera will go completely black and not show an image.
  • Rearview camera lines disappear.

I am not sure how many of these issues are related or stand-alone incidents. These new issues have only been present since I got the radio updated to include the Off-road pages in January 2019. With all of these issues being intermittent, it is hard to have the dealer troubleshoot. These issues will show up randomly, either on my morning commute or on a long road trip.

Frustrating.
