Can find the answer for TJ's and CJ's, even JK's got answers, but there's so many damn engine options now anytime I search up fuel cap information I just get results for the 3.6, and because the 1500 EcoDiesel's have a different filler neck style, that's no help either.

Does anyone know if our EcoDiesels green fuel caps are vented?

I’m no expert. Just a dumb dairy farmer. But I’m going to say no. And the reason I say that is because of all the billet gas caps for diesel and DEF tanks that are for sale on the internet.

Which by the way, NEVER use any metal with DEF. I destroyed a DEF pump on a Volvo 120H wheel loader and almost got hit with an $18K bill. Thank god it was under warranty and the technician said it was a pump failure due to unknown causes.

Any how, when you look at those billet caps on the internet, there is no ventilation. Likewise, when I think about the caps on my new KW T880 trucks, those caps are not vented either. But the tanks are vented. So odds are the tanks on the Ecodiesel are vented as well.

Again… I am just a dumb dairy farmer.

I learned on a game show last night that apparently a dairy cow can produce up to 11,600 gallons of milk over its 20 year life span. That is basically a whole tanker tractor trailer of milk! ?.
You aren’t dumb…. That is crazy cool! ?

With optimized feed efficiencies, proper housing and getting the girls in and out of the milk barn as promptly as possible, our girls produce on average 63lbs of milk per cow per day. Take 63lbs divided by 8.6 pounds per gallon and you have 7.33 gallons per cow per day. Take the 7.33 gallons per cow per day and times it by 305 days and you get 2,235.65 gallons per cow per year on average. 60 days out of the year the rest and are fed differently for the development of the baby inside of her.

Just don’t take the gallons and times it by the price you pay for the milk in the store and think that is what we get paid. It’s not even close. We are paid by the 100 weights. Milk is a commodity just like corn, soybeans, fuel, etc. The simplest way I can put it is we gross about $10.00 per cow per day. So we get roughly $1.36 per gallon. The rest of the money goes to the processors, brokers and retailers. Hence… Just a dumb dairy farmer.

Have a friend I've known for decades that has a couple dairies in Az. Rainbow and Butterfield.

I have a lockable green plastic Stant cap on my JLUD and some times when I open it I hear gurgling like the take was under vacuum pressure and it was relieved when opened the cap. It has me concerned that fuel consumption is imploding the tank and thus hard on the pumps etc. I’ve been leaving the cap loose because of this. So if it has a vent else where, maybe mines defective and/or the caps vent is defective or non existent.

I know the Ram 1500 EcoDiesels have a fuel tank vent...

They also have a capless fuel system...

Our Wrangler EcoDiesels also have a vented fuel tank...

But then when I look at my fuel cap, it looks like it's vented...

Should be sealed but have a combined over and under pressure relief value.

Yeah but is the vent tube and filter the relief valve like it is on the Ram 1500 EcoDiesels? Or is the Wrangler EcoDiesel different and the fuel cap functions as the relief valve?
