So I had my 4xe serviced due to the gas cap not opening and after getting it back I noticed this part was in the back of the jeep sitting on top of the cargo area.

Anyone know what this is?

Is it rubber? Size? Could be a drain plug or bumper for fuel door.

It is rubber. I took a picture with the key fob to show size.

Well, half the parts on the Jeep are smaller than the key fob. 😁 That does help. Looks like a plug of sorts due to the lip around the top. Did you look inside the filler pocket to see if there's a hole that needs a plug? It could be a plug under the storage well or under the jack too.

Is there a hole through the center? Maybe a drain...?

How does a gas cap not open? Did they have to remove filler neck?
The solenoid failed so it couldn't be opened. I had to use the emergency cord to open the gas cap.

There's a super tiny hole in the center of the cap looking thing. I'll have to check tomorrow to see if theres a drain plug in the cargo area.

Isn’t there a plug in the back door that looks like that?

@Zacreth There was a grommet in the tailgate that looked very similar to that. I used it to pass my antenna cable through. Doubtful it’s that - because your tech wouldn’t have had the tailgate trim off for a gas cap issue. But it leads me to believe it‘s a grommet - maybe from somewhere under one of the trim panels on the driver’s side of the cargo area?

@Zacreth the attached pics show a few of those rubber plugs/grommets in the rear cargo area:

It could be one of these, or something similar.
Awesome information and thank you btw! Sheesh this is the reason of finding a good dealership to take our vehicles to but guess it can't be helped really. That's why sometimes it's best to do your own work.
