I am tossing around the idea of installing a plug and play remote start on my 21 JL Sport. Basically you use your factory fob and hit the lock button 3 times to start it. They have decent reviews but I am curious of the positives and negatives anyone has experience. Too hard to just trust online reviews as those are easy to manipulate. I live in Iowa and we have some pretty harsh winters. I park in a garage at home but after work would be nice to give it a few minutes to run before I go out to it. Single digits and below zero are not uncommon here. Here is a link to the type of system I am talking about. There are a few different ones out there and they all claim no wire cutting and a 10 minute install (for push to start JL models). I am looking for honest feedback from experience with these from anyone who has anything to offer.

I purchased this and installed it myself in about 20 minutes. Easy install. Works fine as reported. I’ve had no issues and can’t say anything bad about it. Just be sure you turn off your horn-at-lock function or it will drive you nuts. I silenced mine through the Uconnect.

Do you mean Sport S? The fobs for the manual door/window Sport trims do not have any buttons.

Yup. I was bumming that the jeep i found in stock did not have the way overpriced remote start. I saw one on Amazon and figured for $130 I would give it a shot.

I installed it while doing some other things but it was shit simple.

Pop a few dash parts off. Fish a wire through. Plug everything up. Look for the blinking light and pop the module off to go and program it. Plug it back in and snap the dash parts back on.

The only trick is that the website name is wrong. If you use what is in the directions, you get the upset for the phone hookup. Can't remember the actual website but it is the manufacturer before it gets rebranded in china.

Works great and I highly recommend.

Thanks to all for the info. I can certainly piss away $170 on something less usable so I will give it a try and repost my success or failure... whichever outcome I end up with

trying to program this damn thing on the pc and it keeps telling me no USB device. I am on a windows PC using internet explorer. I think i have a bad USB module. Did you have any issues programming it on the PC?

I had no issues once I found the right website. It was not the one they give in the directions. It comes up in a Google search and is actually the real manufacturer.

Also, are you using Internet Explorer? It only works with that browser. Edge is the default for windows 10. You need to search it on your computer as it is still there.

Just got the Fortin Evo-one for mine, I have about $150 invested with that, the programmer and the added relay, resistors and diode for the manual transmission install. The install would have been super easy on an automatic, but the manual tranny required splicing into 3 different wires associated with the clutch and lots of soldering.

I can’t recall if it was this or my Tazer, but there was some weird step where I had to first plug it into the vehicle and follow the instructions, then unplug and bring to PC, and then re-plug. It seemed like redundant steps when I read it, but later read other reports that it was essential for a successful install. Not sure if that’s helpful or not though.
