Hey guys,
I’m all out of options and ideas on why I can’t get my aux switch panel to work. My JLUR didn’t come with it installed, or the trailer package, so I took it upon myself to install both set ups, since it seemed pretty easy and much cheaper than to have the dealership do it. Like most guys here have done. But here’s where things are not so the same. Mine don’t work. I took the Jeep to the dealership to get the computer flashed after I installed them, and nothing. They couldn’t figure it out. Eventually they said I wired the trailer wiring to the wrong side (I wired it to the passenger side tail light like the directions and videos online said). So I left frustrated and pissed.
After some more reading on here, I read the switches won’t work unless there are lights hooked up to them, so I installed some lights to the bumpers, and nothing. I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting power to the switches. I figured maybe the fuses were loose, so I checked the fuse box, and it turns out Mopar makes 2 separate fuse boxes for JL’s with and without the trailer tow package. Mine was a no trailer package box, and had no slots available for the aux fuses to fit into. So ordered the trailer tow package fuse box which does come with slots for the auxiliary switches and trailering fuses, and hooked it up. Still nothing.
I called Mopar’s service help line, and basically the dude said Mopar (Jeep) does not make an auxiliary switch panel for the 2018 Jeep JL. After trying several times to tell him that they do, and it’s listed for sale on their website as well every other online store, I was so furious I hung up on the guy.
So next step, I ordered a TazerJL in hopes that would fix it....awesome piece of gear, but it didn’t work.
So, I’m totally stumped. Other than taking it all out and starting over, I have no idea what else to do. If any of you guys have any words of wisdom, or experience, or just wanna kick me while I’m down, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve read a bunch of posts on the switches already and I’m completely stumped.
I don’t get on here often but will check more often for reply’s, but if you want, you can text me. Due to the telemarketer terrorists, I usually don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t recognize, but feel free to call and leave a message if I don’t respond. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks guys (and gals),
Eric G
