Brand new (2022) with 700 miles on it. Rubicon 392. Just recently noticed the slightest squeaking/cricket/swooshing sound with the tire from the rear right. Just started. I did get the jeep washed and it has since been quieter/not as frequent now. Should I take to dealer? Or see if it goes away? I am thinking maybe a piece of dirt/sand etc stuck between pad and rotor?

This is likely nothing. It'll go away on its own eventually or you can take it apart and pressure wash it out. You'll be alright.

Doesn’t seem to be brakes. As when I brake it still makes the sound. It’s like a rubbing. Ever so quiet. And when I’m going super slow. Like less than 10 mph I hear it! Like a whooshing sound as the tire is rotating. I got underneath and looked at back of wheel. The dust shield behind rotor when I push it is very squeaky. Maybe that??

Yeah, that’s certainly possibly. It’s just time to take it apart and inspect everything. You’ll find it.

Drew, what you describe is remarkably similar to what we experienced with one of our Honda CR-Vs (we've owned 3) not long after buying it. The sound was speed-sensitive, and it turned out to be a premature bearing failure. Coincidentally, also right rear.

The bearing was replaced under warranty. No problems since then.

Just mentioning this for your consideration.

I had the worst noise ever happened to mine recently. So bad I immediately drove it to the dealer.

the mechanic drove it 5 feet, heard the noise, put it in reverse for 5ft, gets out and says “all fixed, rock in the brakes”

Just driving in reverse for a second dislodged it. Felt like such an idiot

See that’s funny. Because when I drive it in reverse I don’t hear the sound. Only when in drive at slow speed. Maybe tomorrow I’ll go reverse for a few feet se did that helps at all

My neighbor/riding partner had an almost identical experience with his Triumph Thunderbird. We simply couldn't diagnose the source of a speed-sensitive scratching sound emanating from the driveline.

The dealer tech didn't need five minutes to locate the small, stuck pebble that was making contact with the drive belt pulley.

It’s like rotational noise. If it’s truly a pebble does it go away on it own?!
