That is really interesting to me. The "media port" works absolutely fine for my S9 (work phone), Note 10 (old phone), and S20. Granted, these are all brand new phones and it is possible that an older phone my have a problem, but I kind of doubt it. My only suggestion is to use the cord that came with your phone or a trusted brand like Anker. I really don't trust any other cords.
I have tried 2 different Anker, and 2 Samsung cords, and I still get intermittent failure to connect. I tried both USB 3.0 to C and C to C in both brands before deciding that the failure is determined by the Jeep not the cord.

Yea, I always question the "use the original cord" thing. Isn't USB a standard that has to be followed? If it's a USB cord it should work.

You would think. I have found that the OEM cord always seems to work better for me. This is especially true with micro USB because some are data and some are charge cables. In my own cars that have AA I have found the OEM cable to be the most reliable.

Totally fair, I think its best to come to that conclusion after at least trying a few reputable cords. I have used "random" branded cables and had issues charging before, let alone AA.

I had the same issue with the media ports. Wired AA only works in my Jeep from the USB port under the arm rest. Read somewhere here that a bunch of Jeeps have defective USB ports under the radio. These ports intermittently lose power for a moment, causing the AA connection to drop.

Ironically I've found that this port is more reliable than the one in the console. It's like the people on the assembly line who put the electronics in didn't have a standard, or something.

I wonder whether some of the ports are defective hardware or if it's that the factory worker who installed them did a sporadically lousy job.

When we rented a Wrangler in Tucson this past fall, we were driving along and suddenly Android Auto popped a message up on the Uconnect screen to connect to my wife's phone. We had not connected our phones to the Jeep, so this was all over the air.

I imagine I'll have fun with it when my Willys finally arrives.
