Love using Waze Maps for speed cameras and traffic, but dislike having a cord plugged into my Samsung. Ended up using the rear console USB connection and 40.00 wireless Android Auto. Works great, when I start my Jeep the Android icon shows up on MY UCONNECT. Love my UCONNECT much more now. :)

You don't have issues with it being connected in the Jeep constantly?

With android my phone keeps trying to connect with my adapter constantly walking up the phone which wakes up the Jeep in a loop that is a battery drain and it's an annoyance when I'm trying to use my phone.

I keep plugging/unplugging my adapter every time.

Carplay did not do this, but AA does. Maybe it's my adapter

A workaround that worked for a friend of mine was to use a 12v USB adapter (cigarette lighter) installed in the rear cargo power outlet. Plug the Wireless adapter into the USB adapter port back there and move the fuse F43 (Always ON) to F45 (Ignition ON).

I used the USB connector in my console and it hid the adapter as well.

Is there not a requirement for the adapter to be a USB data enabled port?

The issue I was addressing was the wireless adapter constantly trying to connect to the phone after leaving the Jeep. If the adapter is connected to the USB at the front which has constant power, it will consistently look for a connection.

Also, it depends on the wireless adapter whether it needs the USB data port in the Jeep. Some, like in the case I referred to use the Jeep's Bluetooth to facilitate the access to Android Auto.

After you get out of your jeep turn off your Bluetooth a distance away.

No, it does not depend on the adapter. Where, exactly, would this wireless adapter get its data from if it's plugged into a port that lacks data?

I tried the console USB port on my 2020 Rubicon and the AA icon did not appear on the UCONNECT. It does when plugged into the dash and rear console. It is on constantly (blue led) however I am thinking the parasitic draw is negligible?

I turn on my Bluetooth and get in and my android auto pairs up. When he get out of my jeep I go inside and turn off the Bluetooth on my phone. Pretty simple 👌

The adapter connects to the phone through Bluetooth which provides the data. The Jeep in question connects to the adapter through Bluetooth as well, providing a wireless bridge allowing Android Auto through a wireless connection. I think you're assuming the adapter requires a data connection to the head unit to provide Android Auto. Officially, that's true. It's 'spoofing' a wired connection using Bluetooth and an exploit in a majority of head units that allow AA through a wired connection but offer Bluetooth connection to cellphones.
