I’ve been lurking for a while, and now I’m getting serious about buying my Jeep. I just walked away from a 2019 JLUR that was offered to me at a little over 11% under invoice because it didn’t have the Alpine system and proximity key. I do like a good audio system, and the larger screen is nice, but the factory navigation would be waste since I would just use CarPlay. The color and top were exactly what I am looking for.

I’ve previously been working with Criswell on an order at 8% under, but some of that savings would be eaten up in travel costs. What do you think, are these features worth the extra money (and discount)?

Thanks!

Are you sure you aren't talking about 11% below MSRP/Sticker?

No, MSRP was $48,575 and the deal was for $41k which works out to 11% under invoice. I should also clarify it was missing the 8.4” screen with Alpine.

If you like the price and love the configuration, buy it.

OP - sounds like a great deal, if you like what's in it. :) You're ultimately the one with the checkbook. :)

8.4 Alpine is very worth what they charge for it. I love a good deal, but lack of that option would be a breaker for me.

Proximity is meh. I have it. Not well implemented compared to GM. I wouldn’t regret if I’d skipped it, but would absolutely regret skipping the Alpine because aftermarket hasn’t caught up, yet (and costs more than you’re saving to do right).

Just my $0.02 since you asked... I’d go with the 8% deal and options that you want.

I say get it the way you want it. It’s not like the old days when you can just put a new stereo in on a Saturday morning without anything more than a screwdriver, wire cutters and some electrical tape. Personally, I would regret not getting it just the way I want it from the start. The savings wouldn’t last as long in my mind.

I put an order in with Criswell today. The discount was still a savings after factoring in travel cost. And, their offer for my trade-in is as good as I could expect anywhere short of a private sale. Of course, what you can find in your region may very well be different than what I was finding.

That’s what I experienced on our 2018 JLR but got a little better deal ($700 better) by ordering mine exactly how I wanted it. If you’re using Tread Lightly there’s $2k in it for the dealer so you’ve some room to make a better deal.

Thanks for the replies so far. I think this exercise helped to solidify which options are must haves after a few weeks of trying to figure out what those were. I agree the good deal feeling would wear off fast if the must haves aren't there.

So, let me ask your opinions of the following since I've been waffling before I put in my order.

Must Haves
  • 2.0/8spd
  • 8.4" Premium Audio
  • LED Lighting
  • Premium Soft Top
Considering
  • Cold Weather
  • Tow/Electrical
  • Remote Proximity

Sounds like we have at least one vote for the proximity as a 'meh.' I live in the South, so the Cold Weather group would be used more for remote starts on hot days and heated seats for top down days in the fall/winter. I don't currently have anything to tow, but this would be more for the aux switches since I know a hitch can be put on a Jeep for cheap.

I know this one is personal but I'm also torn between Billet Silver and Granite but leaning towards Granite...

Any insight would be great. I'm trying to convince myself to go ahead with the order so I don't waste all of this perfect Jeep weather!

In some of my JL research i ran into a thread about what option / package people regretted NOT getting and the proximity key was mentioned often. As something we currently have in our '12 Grand Cherokee, i think it would be a "must" for me as well. The 8.4in also looks very nice and personally the upgraded Alpine system is a must for me.

Don’t underestimate how great heated seats and wheel are on a cool day with the top down. Granted I live up north so it’s a must have for me, but cold weather package is pretty awesome even in spring/fall.

I would absolutely get cold/tow/remote prox. Heated seats are nice even in cool temps. Tow package includes the aux switches - one of the best options. Remote proximity is incredibly convenient and works perfect when you use it as you are supposed to. I’ve never had it fail me.

Small cost and all extremely worth the price. Granite is a better color, IMO, but both are good.

Get what you want. My vote is ... “do NOT settle for the one that might be a little better deal.” You will regret it and kick yourself every time you drive it. The 8.4” screen and Alpine are amazing. Be sure and get the LED light package. Wranglers have been notorious for poor factory lighting until the LED option was made available.
