Subject: jlu with upgraded Alpine sound system.

Problem: the Alpine sound system has two sound profiles, one with the hardtop on, one with the hardtop off. The change in sound profiles is triggered by the connection of the hardtop connection coupler, and can be tricked to think the hardtop is connected by a 10 amp fuse placed in the coupler as seen in the picture below. Unfortunately for the Jeeps that did not come with a hardtop the fuse trick is not available. Does anybody have an idea how to do something similar or where to look in order to make the same thing happen.

This is the first time I've heard of different sound profiles for the Alpine upgrade. Since I have both it and a soft top, I'm curious to see if someone has a suggestion.

Are you sure that it isn’t just hearing more from the sub while the hardtop is on because it is better insulating?

Any time you change the environment a speaker is in you will effectively change the sound. I think this is all that is happening. For example I turn the bass up a couple notches when I take the top down, and turn it back down when the top goes back on.

I am beyond sure, turn your sound system on, then while it's going unplug your hardtop, and then plug it back in. You'll notice the audio cuts out and changes profiles. Also he told us about it mark-1:15

One would hope that technology or an improved version would have carried over to the JL. But I have never heard of this, so I have no idea.

A much longer engineering explanation of the Alpine system. Explains what the did for top on vs top off sound. Dated but interesting if you are into the design details:

I will add this to this thread because I'm seeing it here. It's fairly old. Did they ever release the in floor subwoofer? I've not seen one and realistically it's the wrong place for it. When I purchased my 2022 I couldn't believe the quality of sounds reproduction by the Alpine system in comparison to my Bose GMC at 4. And I added a dual under rear seat JL 10" sub box and 1000 Watts to power it's, then replaced all other speakers with JL's and after $2500 it still didn't compare to this alone system. I'm a pseudo audiophile and this is impressive. Other thoughts. Oh and yes this is primarily a road rider with an annual deer hunting trip to the Black Hills of SD/WY.

The in-floor subwoofer goes in the two-door Wranglers inside the rear storage area.

Of course, shirt body no place to put it on the side. I should have figured that out. Thanks for the enlightenment:)
