So I drilled out another one today, PITA. Had to tap the thread and replaced all bolts with grade 10.9 black bolts, now it is much less likely to broke, and I dig the black on onyx look.

You can see some of the AEV bolts I get out are already bent, that is how soft they are.

Wow what a pity... I thought AEV manufacture a top quality wheel.

Anyone know the bolt size/thread to find a good replacement?
EDIT: sorry I just saw your previous reply with the info that I was looking for :)

Can I choose the color ring I want? Onyx wheel with black ring for instance.

Well to be fair, the wheels are amazing, well thoughtful design and good aesthetics. The grade and quality of the bolts come with it are less than desirable.

Also if you have previously installed nylon bolts (the no ring option) in your Borah, need to be careful when remove those, they can left chunks of nylon behind and cause jammed threads,

Anyone out there with a satin-black wheel with an Onyx protection ring? I have a sting-gray and think that might look pretty nice for some contrast if the colors were far enough apart.

EDIT:
Found one! Seems like not enough contrast for Sting Gray paint. Might be better off with the Onyx wheel and getting a protection ring painted or anodized in satin black.

Just to give you an idea on the look of Onyx, its the same color as Granite Crystal Metallic on Jeeps (Jeep paInt code PAU). Thats what they said to get on thier forum to touch up. I had a scratch on a rash ring and it did the trick.

Im in the same color combo boat. Black Rubicon, satin or galaxy wheel with onyx ring or onyx wheel and paint the ring black satin. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I looked at the onyx borah for my sting gray and after holding it up to the vehicle my wife did not like the two together so I went with the satin black pintler.

i don’t know if this is a JL Borah thing but I’ve Over torqued my jk borah just a little bit several times. I’ve taken them off and put them back on with an impact and torqued. even rubbed the bolts all up against rocks. not one bolt has ever broken. Probably just a bad batch from Aev

Guys with Rubicons. What lift are you running with these wheels if any? I'm seeing conflicting lift info being these have 5.72 backspace.

Thanks!
