On my EcoDiesel I use the Tazer extension cable to avoid accessing the SGW and its hellish location ever again. I'm considering buying a new MOAB, and what's holding me back isn't the $80K cost or the loss of fuel effiency (half of what I'm getting now), it's accessing that God-foresaken SGW deep in the bowels of the dash. I suspect not, but has any less painful way been determined? Modern man has made many worldwide technical advancements in the five years since I installed my extension cable, please tell me there is an newly determined alternative to this.

I'm actually thinking of making this part of the purchase negotiation: "I like that price, but throw in an SGW extension cable installation, and you have a deal"

Pop a few plastic panels off and it's not that bad, and I have ogreish large hands.

This product bypasses the SGW via software and is supported by JSCAN - $60/year. Anyone ever try it?

WHAT WE DO
AutoAuth is a service that gives technicians the ability to use their aftermarket diagnostic tools to perform secured functions on vehicles through the OBD port that would otherwise be locked by the Auto OEM. New vehicles come enabled with the latest advanced security measures to protect vehicle owners from cyber attacks. AutoAuth works with independent Tool Vendors to ensure tools are AutoAuth certified. This allows Independent Operators to continue to service Security Gateway enabled vehicles. AutoAuth provides the registration service and “unlock codes” to Independent Operator’s service tools to unlock vehicle Security Gateway to perform day to day service.

That appears to be something that claims to lock down your OBD port. Different topic, right?

I read it as an unlock OBDII plug in. Of course you still have to have authorized scan tools to access it. A Tazer Mini does this without needing any codes or authorization.

I forgot to reinstall the SGW on the back of the pod when I installed my Quart Stage 6 system. So now It rides in my console and I plug it back in when I need to take the Jeep to the shop. Ireset the tire size and the TPM threshold with Jscan and the only thing I use the Tazer is for the ESS shutoff. Kind of extreme but it works,
