So once again, you have managed to reply to my post for absolutely no purpose other than to maybe call me a liar? But either way, it doesn't contribute to the discussion at all.
No hurt feelings, just pointing out it probably wasn't that important if you don't know if one was included nor did you read it prior to operating your new Jeep. Your strong words indicate that it is of utmost importance; actions spoke otherwise.

I think it's reflective of Jeep's decision to only print the basic stuff (the get-to-know-your-Jeep flip cards, and the condensed manual) and leave the full manual as an electronic download or accessible through the Infotainment. I think it's reality that most people don't care about having a paper copy anymore.

Why can't you download the manual (for free, available now) to your computer or phone? I have copies of mine on my computer and on my phone, and I don't need a cellular or internet connection to access it when I need it.

This thread is seriously blowing my mind. Let’s push this a level further, shall we? It seems we’re just a 1/4-inch away from it anyway.

- Searchable, always-accessible, ready-at-the-hand, always-up-to-date digital manuals are crap. Why don’t we go back to the book press.
- Remember when we had steam engines? Those times were great.
- What about doctors selling you alcohol as a medicine and wearing pest masks? Wasn’t that great? Modern meds are all just fake and harmful anyway. Don’t forget about the parasites!
- How about when you could only sail across the ocean and not fly. So much more time to relax, right?
- What about hand voting like in Switzerland? Should we go back to hand votes only? Those were great times.
- What about life expectancy in the late 40s at best? Wasn’t that great times? Who wants to live to 80 anyway.
- what about this forum? Should we just go back to writing each other letters?

don’t get me wrong, if you want a printed manual, you should be able to easily and cheaply get it ie from the dealer or ordering it online. But complaining it’s not there when it’s available to you in a better form is just so twisted.

EDIT: crazy how upsetting a stupid manual can be to me. I should try to relax.

Those still exist! They still use leaches and maggots in modern hospitals for difficult to heal open, infected wounds. Mother natures medicine can’t be beat sometimes. Nothing takes away bad flesh like these little choppers!

I know they use maggots very effectively, but I didn’t know about the leaches!

I still don't understand what the purpose was behind trying to make it look like I contradicted myself. I mean, fine by me if you wanna believe that, even after I explained that is absolutely not true, but it still adds 0 value to the conversation at hand so...moving on.

I don't know about this "basic" manual you refer to because I don't even know what I have yet. The thread makes it seem like it comes with nothing, some people say it comes with one but is slightly smaller. I have no idea. That's why I have to check, and if it DIDN'T come with a sufficient manual, then I will suck it up and pay the $60.

Regardless of what manual my Jeep may or may not have does not change my opinion that the Jeep SHOULD come with one. That is why I am saying none of this discussion between us is relevant to the topic at hand.

To answer the last question, I never said I couldn't download the manual. That wasn't the point. The point is that I feel that all motor vehicles SHOULD come with a manual. So if I have to pay $60, then I will pay $60.

If only there was some easy way to fix that
I have 3 vehicles and didn't drive the JLU today.

Why am I being interrogated lol? You guys are hilarious. You seem very concerned with what is happening in my life.

But why should Jeep include something that the vast majority of people no longer need/use? Most people will be Googling or watching YouTube videos to learn these things...

I have a lot of experience in digital outreach and our engagement data has shown for years now that smartphone adoption is high across all age ranges.
Such folks may not use their Owner's Manuals, but by God, they do need them.

Prior to retirement, I was the Go To guy at work for general automotive questions. For every 10 questions that I was asked, I'd wager that no less than 5 or 6 of them were subjects that were plainly addressed in an Owner's Manual as a matter of course/necessity. My colleagues were very evidently not using Google or YouTube to get answers.

What was true then is still true today: Family friends continue to ask me the same questions on occasion.

I agree that smartphones enjoy full saturation in the consumer market. What matters, though, is how users are actually engaging with their devices. TikToks and the like? Sure. Due diligence to understand the functioning of that $50K+ vehicle in the driveway? Not so much.

GabeBoy said it best: This subject shouldn't be suffering any debate.

Oh yes but I suppose that is something else entirely. I'll never understand people who have no curiosity or interest whatsoever in learning about things. The info can be accessible by every possible medium and it makes no difference.

None of the vehicles I've purchased in the past three years have had a paper manual. I personally enjoy sitting in a comfortable chair, with a beverage, browsing manuals. Those days are gone. Our R1S has PDF manuals online and manuals you can browse from the infotainment screen (I've tried it twice, and it just shows a white screen each time... typical Rivian quality)

I think (oddly enough) this is about weight savings. I read somewhere that Ford found by hollowing-out bolt heads they shaved about 8-10 oz of weight per vehicle. The last car we bought that came with a full set of manuals was a 2022 Subaru Outback, and I'd wager a guess they weighed a combined 12-14 oz (manual, quick start guide, tire warranty card, maintenance book, etc.)

Most people leave them in the glove box. So it adds up to almost a pound of paper weight. Which has an ever-so-slight impact on CAFE fuel economy numbers. Multiply it by a few hundred thousand vehicles and it's literally tons of paper rolling down the road.

I'm thinking that would equate to a rounding error in the hundredths or thousandths of a MPG. Jeep still provides some printed information AND they provide a Jeep-branded storage bag for it. In most non-luxury cars these days, you get what printed materials they do provide in a plastic bag.

It's interesting that Stellantis hasn't turned the spare tire on the Wrangler into an extra cost option. Spare tires have largely been eliminated in many other vehicles. That is about the weight savings and CAFE, and the increasing difficulty accommodating a spare in the rear floor.

My 21 came with the manual as it should have. I’m that guy who reads it cover to cover on delivery day. I think a vehicle like the wrangler that often takes us to places that don’t have cellular service should 100% have one in the glove box.
I also have it downloaded to my files app.

A printed manual should absolutely be included. There shouldn't even be a debate. Operating a motor vehicle is one of the most dangerous things most people do in their life. Information on how to operate dangerous equipment is absolutely necessary. I am actually surprised that it is even legal to sell a vehicle without the owner's manual, considering how heavily regulated the auto industry is.

There a lots of questions on this forum that are answered in the manual. Now remember that most owners are not forum members, some of which will have the same questions. They need access to that information. Good example would be Offroad+. No one would have any clue what that does without the manual.

If nothing else, I would say that the information about service intervals and proper fluids is absolutely critical for maintaining the vehicle.

I don't know if my 2025 has an owner's manual, but I will have to check. If not, I may have to bite the bullet and spend $60 for it. Is it the end of the world? No. Does it have to be this way? Absolutely not.
You think people who can’t figure out how to drive will read a 600 page booklet and figure it all out?

Just imagine how much more valuable it is to read it on your preferred device BEFORE delivery day, so you are already familiar with the vehicle and just enjoy it. Or reading it on an iPad with hyperlinks that takes you to other sections or on line videos showing certain things.

Printed 600 page manual are just about the most useless thing. Even your Jeep technicians do not use printed manuals anymore - all their service instructions are electronic.

P.S.(Reading the manual before buying is also informative, and may change your mind about buying a vehicle - for new example cars in the UK incessantly beep when you go 1MPH over the speed limit - finding that out ahead of time may lead you to buy a used car instead).
