5 inch radio issues = $ refund

So i've been pretty pi$$ed about the 5 inch uconnects performance so i called the complaint line.

Described my issues:
.lack of functionality in usb mode due to the display especially in album and folder searches
.lack of channel memory labeling past the first 5 mems
.poor antenna reception
.poor serius reception
.lack of source and tracck memory

Took 3 levels of support but Told them ive always had base radios and have never been dissapointed until now. That i wanted to take a crowbar to this radio. That my 14 challenger base radio was light years better than this.

I asked for an upgrade to the 7inch but they refused. Instead offering to pay 1 month of my payment which was 320 a month. I responded with how about 500. And they agreed. Check will be coming within the month.
If you don't mind me asking, what number did you call? I've taken mine to the dealership and have been given the standard "unable to replicate issue". I've private messaged the Jeep Cares folks and gotten nowhere. I was told they would call me and they still haven't. Waiting for a firmware update to fix the issues is going to take forever.

Good luck... I tried Jeep Wave and they told me to pound sand and the only thing they were willing to do was replace the radio under warranty... LOL.. Replacing the radio won't solve anything as it's not fit for purpose.. It's a firmware / hardware issue that might take years to sort out if ever..

Slow, reboots, blank screen, resets are the norm with that pile of garbage...

I'd suggest trying Jeep Wave but don't expect to get anywhere then file a BBB complaint, a complaint with your State Attorney General and maybe file for Arbitration...

Here is a link to the arbitration claim form. Maybe start there when Jeep Wave does nothing for you.

Get the names and ID numbers of everyone you talk with at Jeep Wave. I have all of mine and you'll need / want them to proceed past Jeep Wave...

They will give you first name and employee ID. Something like this: raqball RB1234

Finally had the time to call the Jeep Wave folks and the dealer is going to replace the whole radio with a new unit. I informed them that this will probably not fix the issue but they need to start somewhere. Just before I called them I was driving down the road and the speakers popped and the radio cut completely off for about 5 minutes. When it came back on all the presets, audio settings and time settings were gone. If you are having these same issues, I suggest calling Jeep Wave and getting them involved. They are super helpful and they will make sure the dealer does their part in taking care of you. I asked about them swapping the 5" Uconnect 3 with a 7" Uconnect 4 and they said it might be a possibility if the replacement doesn't fix the issue.

Good luck... I was flat out told by Jeep Wave there is NO WAY (a Jeep Wave supervisors words) they were going to pay for or approve a radio upgrade. I was told to have the dealer replace it and if that didn't fix the issues then another replacement, ect....

I suppose you can keep getting the radio replaced until it meets lemon laws for your state then make them buy the Jeep back under the lemon law....

I really hope I don't have to go that route but I will if I have to. I don't know how long they are going to go before they issue a recall on these radios. Their hand is going to be forced eventually and it's going to cost them a lot of money.

In an interesting twist, I've been asking Jeep Wave to escalate my case to FCA management. 4 email request with no response whatsoever. Today I call and the case does not even exist in their system anymore.. LOL.. Jeep Wave decided to delete the entire case and all of it's notes.

This is some shady stuff.......... I am going to proceed by filling complaints with my State Attorney General, The BBB and have found the email address to Mike Manley @ FCA. He is the Jeep exec... If those do not resolve the issue I'll go to arbitration..

The moral of this post? Try and do everything via email so you have documented proof of what you've been told and by whom. Get the names and employee ID # of everyone you speak with and if it's allowed in your State, record all phone calls made to and from Jeep Wave... Also keep notes of the conversation if you can't record them.

I'll PM it to you.. I tested it and it works. Just sent a quick note telling him I'll have a lengthy email complaint against Jeep Wave and FCA coming in the next week or so.

No response yet as I just sent it this am but it didn't get bounced back either..

Interesting that Jeep Wave deleted my case. What are they worried about? I was treated poorly several times on the phone so maybe they are worried someone up above will listen to their recordings? No clue but slimy on their part..

Received a phone call this morning from a executive team member in Mr. Manley's office. Wow, that was fast!

Problem resolved refund check on the way for $571 and some change.

Moral? Dont give up when Jeep Wave tells you to pound sand. The woman who called me today was understanding and apologetic for the way I was treated by Jeep Wave.

If anyone needs Mr. Manley's email address PM me as it works and it worked fast!

Hi everyone

SO BASICALLY THE PROBLEM ITS JUST ON THE 5 inch?

Just got mine , with technology 7 inch package
1- doesn’t recognize my Apple Watch charger
2- disconnects from apple carplay when ever it wants
3- my left changine button on the steering wheel doesn’t function when im using Spotify.
4- 48 hrs with my JL.
