Where are you reading that you can't fit a 35" tire on the stock carrier with the steel rear bumper? Several people in this thread have done so without issue.Why can’t the steel bumper clear a 35” tire, yet the plastic bumper can?

If you will spray some silicone spray on the bottom of the tire then it will slide on and you will not even know that it touches the bumper. At least it works for my steel bumper with BF good rich 315 70-17 K O2 tires.Update: A 35” tire on stock wheel, will indeed clear the steel rear bumper on a JL Rubicon. Requires a little tug to get the tire to slide into the bumper opening.
