3TV's 2-Door Toad Build

One last mod today. I added a set of Baja Design LP9s to the front bumper. These were removed from another vehicle, so they were free as well.

Diving into the more involved mods this week. Starting with 4.88 gears in the front differential.

For some reason the bearings and bearing races had an unusual wear pattern for just 1500 miles on the odometer. The OEM differential also had a mix of Timken and Koyo bearings instead of the usual all Timken bearings found in Dana axles.

Here is the wear pattern on the bearings

and on the inside of the bearing race. Again, unusual for just 1500 miles.

It appeared that the bearing shims had not been fully seated, which allowed the bearings to ride at a slight angle. The differential is now assembled correctly and has all new Timken bearings throughout.

Making some more progress. Metalcloak front 3.5" suspension went on today, along with Metalcloak 1-ton steering upgrade, Black shocks, and Adam's front driveshaft. I decided to also use Dana 44 AdvanTEK differential covers. I'm still undecided on whether I need a differential skid plate.

I looked at their web page and the item I like the most is their overhead Molle Panel. I have an Epic Crow Molle Panel in my 4-door that is good. But I think I like the Expedition Gear one better.
