If you get the dreaded Aux switch unavalible warning, get it in ASAP for a new Battery.

I had the message for about 3 days, went to the dealer (lol to buy another jeep) and ended up making an appt for the beginning of Dec (need to do it on the weekend since it’s my DD). Went to work on Wed last week and BAM would not start at lunch… Good think I put the ol jump box in the jeep.

Jumped it after work, and it was a PAIN to get it running, but ended up dying 3 times on the way home, one of them was in the middle of traffic and it took 15 min to get it started. Had it towed to the dealer, and low and behold bad battery.

2024 JLUR 392 with 23,900 miles. And now a new battery with 3y/3K warranty LOL.

Just a heads up, I was thinking since I DD mine, I may not have the battery issues some of us have... well yeah I did.

I think I'm going to check the date on mine, and replace it ahead of time. Thanks!

It must have been dead, dead to not even be able to run off the alternator.

Don’t feel to bad. My first JL 2020 Recon had the main die about a year into having it. Never had one issue. Had to work super late one night and I leave to go grab some dinner and nothing. Being as I was the only one there I was kinda sorta screwed. Mind you this job was an hour from home and in BFE. Luckily there was an AutoZone near by. Not close enough to pull the battery and walk there and back but just close enough that if it did start I could make it there. Ended up driving the fork lift to the parking lot and jumping off it. Lol

Yeah mine finally died in the garage Thank God. Replaced the main battery and traded it in for an upgrade. I removed the stop/start, but I really need to do the Aux battery fix.

It took me 10 minutes to delete the aux battery. Definitely worth it.

I just replaced mine as I didnt want to risk it further. Jeep fires up quicker now. I still get the aux warning for a few moments and then its good. Need to get the jeep on the road more so it can go away.

What's funny is We bought a 22' with the 2.0 turbo, and literally about 3 days after I replaced my 392 battery..... the 2.0 crapped out. I KNEW it was going to, and I just purchased a new Main battery for it, and then the dealer went ahead and fixed the aux batter on it since that what was dead too. I did bypass that one, but for now with both brand new batteries, I'm just leaving it stock, I just thought it was funny, both jeeps needed batteries... Oh and My CJ7 hates it cause it's just sitting there (since I got the 392 LOL) I ordered a battey tender to make sure it doenst die.

Just add to this thread. I've been noticing this "Aux Switches Temporarily Unavailable Battery Charging" message for a while, at least a few months I think. A week ago the cold start took a a second longer than usual and today I confirmed this behavior again even though it's about 35 degree in my garage. I even tried after driving 12 miles while the engine was still warm. I could definitely tell the start up hesitated.

Without testing, I don't think the alternator is going bad. So just grabbed a new battery from Costco and replaced the OEM one after I got home. All good now.

For reference, the OEM battery will be 4 years in March. My previous Jeep GC had the OEM battery for 7 years no problem.

I started having other issues - took awhile to crank. Watching the voltage, it would drop nearly below 10. Now, I run a Bluetti DC/DC charger, ARB Dual compressor, warn winch and a bunch of Diode Dyanmics light off the battery, but was suprised to see this at 10k miles. CEL was on (battery couldn't power on some stuff so threw a CEL) etc.

Either way, decided to bite the bullet and swap in a 80Ah Antigravity. Everything works perfect now, with the added benefit of 32lbs lighter, and built in jump starter, and not limited to 50% of the power of the battery like the AGM OEM is.

Sorry for the mess of cables and wires - I decided to run my Diode Dymamics Ditch lights and REar Chase lights off the Aux switches instead of gettin a whole nother switch pad. Works great, but that means cables are everhwere. Will tidy that at sometime.

3 jeeps wanglers since 2018. 2 of them 392’s. None of the batteries have lasted over 24 months. 1st clue the Battery is going is the aux switches unavailable alarm coming up on startup. My 24 392 is about 20 months old, and they replaced the battery this week under warranty. Batteries from Jeep are absolutely junk. I’ll get the free ones while under warranty, but I would never pay for one at the dealer.

I had this message for a few months, saw this thread and got my battery changed, starts up faster and message is gone. It was getting slower and slower on startup. Since, left it parked with glove compartment open all night, no way I start it on old battery. Thankful for this thread.
