Starting to look around at what tires to put on after the KO2's wear out. Really liking what I am reading and hearing about the Mickey Thompson BB A/T's. Have a 2021 JLUR and figured I would have to be looking at getting new wheels as well. Would love to keep the stock Rubicon wheels and save some money, but not sure that is possible with larger tires.

Anyways, was on 4wheelparts and the "rim range" for the above mentioned tire in 37's is 7.00"-8.50"; this seemed small. Is it possible to mount 37's on stock Rubicon wheels or is this a typo on the website... or am I completely misunderstanding what this notation is? See photo:

Thanks, Adam

All Wrangler alloy wheels are 7.5" wide with 6.2 inches of backspacing.

Thanks, I guess I just thought I'd need a wider one. I did double check Mickey Thompson's website and it lists "approved rims" as 8.00"-11.00", with the measurements taken for their stats being on 10.00".

Guess 4WP has the listing wrong. Got excited at the idea of them fitting on the stock ones, but also didn't consider that the offset and backspacing probably need to be different as well to properly fit.

That tire will fit the 7.5" wide wheel. But, the downside is that the sidewalls are pulled in and the tread is more rounded at pressures that are appropriate for the street. Lowering the pressure to get full contact across the tread puts you in pressures that may be less than ideal for sidewall flex/steering response. But, then you might benefit from the narrower wheel and rounded tread when running lower pressures or when in sand/mud or getting a better ride at lower street compatible pressures. Compromises.

But the 6.2" backspace with that wide and tall of a tire might cause interference and require spacers to run the stock wheels. I don't run spacers. Never will.

37x12.50 on a stock rim (with 1.5" spacers), full contact patch at 30 psi. No issues for 38k miles before we replaced them...

...with 38x13.50's on the same set up. Full contact patch at 23psi, although Patagonias are a rounded tread by design and rode and wore fine at 30psi on the street.

Some will say it won't work, or you can't wheel like that, or it won't handle like that. I disagree, from a 5300 mile road trip with the cruise set at 90mph to hundreds of trails including gut buster before they graded it, the Rubicon, Dusy-Ershim, Holcomb creek, and desert dirt roads at freeway speeds, never had a tire issue.

Thanks for all the responses and insight. Also going to pair them with a 2" Rancho lift. Hoping we'll have some good Black Friday sales coming up

The Mickey Thompson site says 8-11” for those tires and the advertised tire size was done on a 10” rim.

12.50's really need to be on a wider wheel. With a 37 on a skinny wheel you start to deflate the tire to get a decent tread contact patch because the center of the tire balloons out. With a load range D tire it just doesn't work well. The tire runs hot from running under inflated and they wear out fast.

12.50's like a 9" wide or wider. I'd say 9" minimum.
