I have this tire on my eco diesel. I have the tazer set at 35.6 and the speedo is spot on.

Sure - I get that. I had to adjust (I used JScan) for the 35's i'm running now. But curious if you have decent clearance with 35s (315/70R17 in my case), can these BFG 37s - which run a bit smaller than other "37s" - be used without further lifting or modding.I had to adjust the tire size in the PCM going from 35's to KO2 37's. Even though they is not the tallest 37's, they are still taller than 35's.
I know of no tire that is exactly the advertised "inch" size it is always some number below that.
Ah...I missed that. So the 37" BFGs are 35.375" installed and the 35's (Kanati Trail Hog AT-4) that I had were about 34.5" installed. My guess is the BFG 35's you have are shorter than 34.5"?Sure - I get that. I had to adjust (I used JScan) for the 35's i'm running now. Here's my JLUR with 35s now...
They are supposed to be 34.4" so they run closer to size than the 37's do. I had to set my JScan to 34.75" to get accurate GPS speed.Ah...I missed that. I would think for "normal" driving, you could probably get away with the 37's though with some articulation they would likely rub. I had a MC 2.5" lift on mine when I initially installed the 37's (now 3.5") so I did not have any rubbing.
What do they actually measure? Their advertised diameter is 34.4" and I would be surprised if they are anywhere near that unloaded, much less loaded. The 37's are advertised at 36.5" and measure 35.75" unloaded for a difference of 3/4". On my Jeep, they are 35.375" loaded or 1-1/8" difference. They are supposed to be 34.4" so they run closer to size than the 37's do. I had to set my JScan to 34.75" to get accurate GPS speed.
But good to know that probably would need a bit of extra lift.
Not to mention probably good idea of beefing up track bars, tie rod and drag link. I don't think I'd be comfortable going any bigger than 35's with stock components.
It is because the Jeep is no longer optimally geared and if you have a 3.6L it does not produce enough torque to compensate and when you are in high winds, the transmission has to downshift to compensate for the loss of torque.I think I already know the answer but if anyone can shed some light on this. Today I finally got on the interstate. Flat here in Florida and a pretty good head/crosswind say 10-15mph. Maybe a bit more. So at 65 mph it would go into 8th. anything above 65 it stayed in 7th. So I figured that was possible but does any adjustment to the tire size effect final gear in the tuner ? I didnt happen to check it via GPS. Was a short trip of maybe 2 miles.
I did anticipate this just checking.
I have posted this many times here and for the most part, for most people, these are good combinations:Sounds about what I had figured.
Down the rabbit hole we go !!
