how much does it cost generally for a re-gear?
Rebel is pretty good priced at like 1800ish, i paid 2000 for yukon gears and all new bearings and seals. Might be able to get it somewhere cheaper

Iā€™m in the camp that swapping to 4.56 from 4.10 isnā€™t worth the money. If you go 4.88s youā€™ll have room to move up to 37s easier if you want down the road. However, if you really want 4.56, I know of a place...

Iā€™ll text ya later about sat. Should be good to go. Ordered some parts for the alignment machine

Brett
What if you're not thinking of going up to 37s. Do you still think 4.88?

If you have a manual transmission, I would definitely go 4.88ā€™s with 35ā€™s. Hope you get it figured out and really enjoying your Jeep soon.

UKCATS nailed it. 35s and 4.88s would be a good combination with a manual to

My vote is 4.88s. Doing the math 4.56s and 35s are the same as 4.10s on a stock rubicon. The extra gearing with 4.88s would be perfect for acceleration. I know it a totally different Jeep but I had 4.88s on my TJ with 33s and it was perfect.

Called the off road shop again today and they insist 4.88.
So I guess thatā€™s what itā€™ll be.

I was looking at pics of your Jeep with the 285/75 RGā€™s. I think it looks great. Do they drive better than the 35s you had? I know you mentioned you didnā€™t care for the 35s.

They are a good compromise between the stock 33ā€™s and 35ā€™s. With the auto, I have normal use of 8th gear again on the highway. Iā€™m fine with 35ā€™s, but didnā€™t wanna re-gear right now. I might go with a Dyntrac front axle to get rid of the FAD. Still not sure what, if anything, Iā€™m going to do with this Jeep.

Questions?

Can the dealer upgrade to 4:56 from 3:45 and maintain the factory warranty?

Do I need a Tazer when regearing a manual, could the dealer do a flash on the computer, or is it even necessary for a manual?

I donā€™t like the stealerships touching my Jeep, but that is up to you. The Tazer or similar product is necessary in my opinion to correct the speedometer and odometer. My OCD couldnā€™t tolerate them being off.

Is the Tazer just for the speedo? Does mopar have 4:56 gears, or will they only go as high as 4:10 for factory spec?

The Tazer does a ton of stuff, including disabling the ESS. The gears would probably be from Dana. Iā€™m sure they have a variety of ratios available for the JL. @chevymitchell would be the expert that could answer your questions better than I.

I have a tazer...it can adjust for bigger tires, diff gear changes, transfer case gear changes and a lot of other things. You should Google it and read up on their website...it's very informative.
