Just noticed one of the vents in my backseat isn’t functioning on my brand new JL (4 weeks old). No air blowing out when all the others are working fine. Assume it’s been like this since I had it but just never noticed.

Anyone experience this? Is there an easy fix or something I can do before bringing it in for service and wasting a half day?

Thanks!

Sounds like your blend door isn't working... PITA to work on. Save yourself the hassle and go to dealer.

wild guess: duct came apart somewhere? I’m not positive, but I would guess you’d have to take the console apart to diagnose/repair. I’d just have the dealer figure it out.

Edit: I looked up the part, and it is a one piece duct for both rear vents. I don’t believe the duct is the problem.

Interesting. Possibly a bad fuse?

Also unlikely. If you close the working vent in the rear, you feel absolutely no air coming from the non-functional left vent?

Somewhat related, I'm 90% sure that I dropped a drill bit into my rear vents. I don't hear any rattles or anything but that's the only place it could have dropped into.

Is there a guide somewhere as to how to dismantle the console?

Correct. Absolutely zero air.
Now I’m pretty interested in this lol. Do you have any kids who would’ve stuffed something into the vents? Has it always done this and you haven’t noticed, or did it just start happening?

the reason I ask is because you can see in the picture, this is the duct for those vents. Air goes in the single hole side, and should come out split to the two sides. It’s either blocked, or the vent isn’t properly connected to the duct.

Edit: forgot picture

I do have kids but they noticed it right away after sitting in the back and turning the air on. Very unlikely anything I stuffed back there. I agree it’s either blocked somehow (maybe it’s taped shut for some reason and it wasn’t removed during install?) or it’s not connected properly.

I’ll let you know what they say when I bring it in. Not much of a rush to bring in since one vent works back there so will probably wait until I need to bring in for something else.

Be sure to let us know what happens at the dealer so it doesn’t keep me up at night!;)
