Hello everyone. I’ve been having a heat and AC issue with my 2018 Wrangler JL. Nothing is coming out of the vents, I can’t change the temp. I checked all the fuses and even replaced the blower motor. Does anyone have any advice for me? This has truly been a frustrating experience especially since it’s about 10 degrees out here.

Not certain on Jeep JL, but many vehicles require engine vacuum to open or close flapper valves in the duct work. Check that. Also, are you getting any fan speed indication on the center display? New blower motor? Could it be running backwards? Got new filter?

I had an issue like this with my wife's Honda Accord hybrid years ago. It ended up being the thermostat which is a little aluminum cube thing somewhere near the blower motor. On her car it was an absolute bitch to get to, if I did it correctly I would have had to yank off the entire dash to replace a $50 aluminum cube. So instead I took a sawzall and cut off a couple pieces that you couldn't even see unless you got up under there and really ratcheted your neck around and looked up. And then we traded it in her vehicle 3 months later.

Yeah Wranglers should have a thermostat in there. The thermostat is what regulates the blower motor and the temperature that it pumps out. If the thermostat goes, you won't get any air flow. There's a small little crystal fuse in the thermostat, and when that thing goes, you need to replace the whole part.

I'll see if I can't find the thermostat for a 2018 JL...

Okay so it's been a minute, it turns out it's called a blower motor resistor

Here's a video from YouTube to help you diagnose the possible issue if it is this part.

I don't know what's up with the Mopar online parts stores lately, but they have been really difficult to find the correct parts for recently. I swear it's like all of the factory images got changed to Fiat symbols, And when you search "blower motor resistor" you come up with absolutely no returns, and if you break down to "resistor" you have to sort through over 200 different options with very little indicators as to which one is the correct part, including completely different parts with different part numbers for vastly different prices which all are listed as resistor in the blower motor system. It's pretty ridiculous lately! I blame FCA!! :headbang:

Maybe if it is this part that's something that Benny @AllMoparParts.com can help you with?

I’ll check that tomorrow. The screen won’t even let me change the fan speed. New blower motor was installed. I plugged it in just to check and no movement. I also got a new cabin and engine filter. A friend of mine suggested disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Not sure if they will even fix it

Hopefully this is something I can do. I’ll have to check it out. Jeep has my car to replace a harness and one I got it back the heat was not working. They are saying bring it back but want to charge me another diagnostic.

The blow motor I have comes with the resistor built inside I think. There was a piece attached to the blower.

Looking at the wiring diagram JL's do not have a blower motor resistor instead they are pwm controlled by the hvac module. There is a relay that supplies power to fuse and motor. If fuse has power check power and ground at motor.

I would think they wouldn't charge since they were the last to touch your vehicle and replaced a harness. Do you happen to know what harness they replaced. Could be a loose connection or unplugged connector.

I had a similar issue in my Rubicon after I had disconnected the battery. Surprisingly the UConnect system controls the heat and ac systems. After reading a post on here, I did a reset of the radio and all came back to life. I can’t recall which radio buttons to push and hold for the reset,
Found it.
To reset your Uconnect radio, you can perform a soft reset or a hard reset:

  • Soft reset
To resolve minor issues, you can try a soft reset by pressing and holding the volume and tuner knob buttons for 10–20 seconds. The display screen will flash and then go dark.

  • Hard reset
To reset your Uconnect radio to factory settings, you can try these steps:
    1. Press and hold the temperature up and down buttons for at least five seconds

    2. Select the option to reset to factory settings from the menu that appears

      • Wait about 30 seconds for the system to reboot
Resetting your Uconnect radio can cause some inconveniences, such as losing any upgrades that were previously installed.

If your Uconnect app isn't working, you can try these steps:

    • Check that your Uconnect Access or SXM Guardian subscription hasn't expired
    • Make sure you have the most recent version of the app downloaded from your phone's app store

Yeah, if it stopped working when they had it they should diagnose no charge. I know this doesn't happen often but they should own the mistake. As others said, I would try a hard reset of the Jeep, disconnect all batteries for 10 minutes and reconnect. You might find it starts working again. If not, it may be a bad module.

I’m going to give this a shot today. I tried to get them to fix the issue but they are blaming the issue on an aftermarket screen which is bs. I took the screen out and put the oem connection on just to check with the same results. I hate going to the dealer…. Straight money grab sometimes over something simple.

I had a similar thing happen with mine, a year or so after buying it. It was under warranty, and the small a/c control panel was replaced. It is what controls the a/c, heater, fan, etc. My.symptoms were that it took longer and longer, over time, for the a/c, blower to come on. It would sometimes take a couple of minutes. Eventually, it just stopped working. That is when I took it in. I didn't want them saying that the symptoms couldn't be replicated.

Have you tried the reset mentioned above with the factory head unit?
