Hello Gents,

Yesterday I took my JLUR 2018 3.6 MT for a regular service which included oil change, tire rotation, cabin filter replacement and the multi-point inspection.

After I picked up my vehicle I noticed a weird metal to metal grinding noise coming from the front driver side to what appears to be the axle. Additionally the service 4WD light came up - both of these within 1 mile after I took my vehicle back from the Jeep service.

The noise is constantly present at 2H, but suspecting the FAD as it would usually cause the service 4WD alarm, I have reseated the FAD connector and made sure pins are clear and don't show corrosion. 4WD alarm is still present and the issue is still persistent.

I did some troubleshooting steps and this is what I found:

1) While noise is present at 2H the noise immediately disappears after switching to 4H
2) Noise is not present when maintaining speed or accelerating at 4H
3) Noise re-appears even in 4H when decelerating
4) Noise distinctly re-appears while maintaining speed after switching from 4H to 2H and disappears immediately after switching to 4H
5) Noise becomes more prominent above 50Mph and intensifies with speed
* For what its worth I have an Metalcloak aftermarket front driveshaft which never made any vibration or noise ever since installed.

* I pay very close attention to my vehicle and I never had this noise before - prior the maintenance visit at Jeep yesterday.

Any suggestions or clues are highly appreciated... :crying:

P.S. To this day I regret getting the maintenance 10/100k package from Jeep as half of the time they are causing more issues than good :(

Do you have a video of the noise? or a sound clip?

@chevymitchell I have an ARB roof rack which makes quite the noise so it is very difficult to go 50-65Mph and take a recording of the grinding without the noise from the roof rack interfering. I might use chassis ears to pinpoint but I borrowed mine and I am unsure when I will have them back.

Also a tiny bit of more detail I have an aftermarket front driveshaft from Metalcloak which also never caused any vibration/noise ever since I installed it.

Some additional info though:

* Noise becomes more prominent above 50Mph
