Unfortunately, I know what will do it. Pure carbide (not coated) two flute drill press bits, $20+ a bit and they walk like hell, too.

That sounds like a pain in the ass. Thanks for doing the research to find out though lol

I'm glad it was just a little M6 bolt and that the bolt and extractor snapped off flush with the bed side. Made it easy to just Rustoleum rattle can bed liner over it.

Got rid of the stock boat anchor muffler this weekend. During the process of removing the stock exhaust I discovered that I pretty well obliterated one of the cast (aluminum?) exhaust hangers, presumably when I hit the exhaust on something:

New exhaust tucks up nice and tight:

I didn't get this exhaust for its sound - purely for the clearance - but I know there's precious little information out there on the Magnaflow Rock Crawler on the 2.0T, so for those curious how it sounds:

Anyway, next project will be Armorlite in the JT, hopefully after Memorial Day. Looking forward to a Uwharrie trip on the 18th beforehand though!

@Remorseless Which transfer case do you have? I was looking at the Borla climber exhaust a while back but they say it won't clear the full-time transfer case.

Have any pics of the distance between the muffler and the t-case?

I'm also curious to hear how you like the exhaust after some highway miles. I think it's safe to say most of us didn't buy the 2.0T for the exhaust note...

Edit: I have the regular part-time transfer case.

I'll see if I can grab some pics this week. Drove some on the highway yesterday though, still in safari mode with doors off, and it was a little droney in 6th, but quieted down in 7th and 8th. It's definitely not something I'd do for an enjoyable exhaust note lol, but that's just a factor of the 2.0 being a 4 cyl. Will have to see how it is with doors and top put together though, looking like we may be wheeling in the rain this weekend so I might be forced to put the Jeep back together.

Bunch of updates inbound, I'm getting pretty lazy at keeping up...

Had an upholstery shop install Katzkin in the truck, came out great I think:

Wife wanted a little more butt cushion, which the quilting does (surprisingly) help, and I wanted something that wouldn't absorb sticky kiddo messes as well as the cloth seats, so this ought to fit the bill.

Next project was getting Armorlite installed in the truck. Left the seats in the truck this time, did not hinder install. Came out great.

Next project was unfucking my goof with the broken bolt in the truck. On the back of the aluminum bars are plastic Christmas trees for aligning everything, with one right next to the spacer where the broken bolt is:

Jeep Wrangler JL '22 JLR 2.0T build progress/wheeling thread 1717533461293-4i

So, drilled it out:

Jeep Wrangler JL '22 JLR 2.0T build progress/wheeling thread 1717533512657-kz

And lightly opened up the hole on the bed:

Jeep Wrangler JL '22 JLR 2.0T build progress/wheeling thread 1717533545423-h7

Insert rivnut (I'm not 100% happy with how the rivnut squished, but I can't get it to squish more without ripping the mandrel for my rivnut tool through the threads, it's got about half engagement but holds torque and doesn't move, so rolling with it for now):

Line up and bolt in:

Coming up I've got some work to do with the steering - managed to knock a jam nut loose on the tie rod when beaching myself on the steering on Dutch John. Got some M14x1.5 jam nuts and M14 washers in to cinch down the Metalcloak alignment plates better, since lug nuts ate into the metal some and might've been throwing off my measurements. So, gotta make sure I'm not horrendously out of whack after a good hour plus drive with a jam nut spun off. Hoping it didn't really thread out, the steering stabilizer clamp was preventing movement when I noted the issue.

Also, have on order some aluminum skids from MORE to replace the steel set. Since these skids sit under the stock steel skids, don't really need the weight for the transfer case and gas tank skids, and I don't get into my oil pan skid super hard usually. Given all this, aiming to save weight. Goal is for the JL to be light enough for the JT to tow on a small car hauler to go out west some nebulous time in the future and this is a step in the right direction for keeping it light.

Also, @Philly_ - still no data on the exhaust with the doors/top on (been good weather, so they're staying off for the time being), but tone does seem to be settling down. Less loud in 6th and 7th on the highway lately.

Looks like solid work all around. I didn't realize you didn't have to pull the seats to install the armorlite, that's pretty neat.

Also

Nice foot.

Yeah, the fronts slip under the front seat mounts, and the rear seat mounts slide under the Armorlite.

And for more foot pictures, look me up on OnlyFans

Fixed the alignment on the Jeep this past weekend. When the jam nut came loose (I think when I beached the steering on a rock), it did back the tie rod off a bit. Was at 1/2"-5/8" toe out. Readjusted to 1/8" toe out and all is good.

Jeep Wrangler JL '22 JLR 2.0T build progress/wheeling thread 1718026506053-qs

Not sure if it was caused by the tie rod rotating or not, but did find that the steering stabilizer made contact with the trackbar and the drag link - not horribly hard, thankfully, but did leave witness marks in the stickers on each. Got the stabilizer readjusted and placed back in a good spot as far as I can flex it out and test.

The jam nuts coming loose was a concern. I hit them with the breaker bar a bit harder this time, hopefully next encounter with a rock they'll hold. For the JT I'm planning on going with the Steer Smarts kit instead of the Artec because of the pinch bolt system they use. It's gonna cause some clearance issues, but ought to be more survivable in terms of not suddenly coming loose.
