Recently made my dream come true and purchased a 24 jeep Willy’s.
I noticed that the daylight sensor is not sensing and the light for the “passenger airbag off” is never on. I explained the issue to the dealership - my daylight sensor is not recognizing day light and it’s SOOOOOO sensitive to darkness that if I pass under a tree shade it turns the whole cluster into night mode with my headlights/taillights on. The problem is that it doesn’t turn back to day on SOME occasions. The dealership service department would NOT acknowledge anything and pass it as “normal”. The other concern I had was that for the passenger airbag. If I understand correctly, if no one is in the passenger seat, the airbag should be “off” with the light on indicating it’s off. my light never turns on so I’m assuming it’s indicating that the airbag is always active.

please does anyone have any experience with these issues because the dealership is absolutely useless!

I’m sorry if I’m not making any sense I’m just so frustrated and idk what to do.

Edit: thank you everyone for the replies!! Means a lot getting advice/suggestions from everyone! I also figured out the airbag situation so thanks again for the help on that!

Airbag should have a minimum weight to make it work. Test this by putting a heavy backpack in the passenger seat and see that the light turns on "AIRBAG OFF". As far as I've seen, no light if seat is empty.

No help on the sensitivity of the DRL sensor. Sorry!

I have not noticed any "airbag" lights on mine.

Have you tried playing with the roller thingy on the left side to adjust the interior light brightness when the auto headlights come on? It might be just on the low setting

The headlights sensor is set too low and my lights will come on just driving under some trees. Some Jeep models allow you to adjust the sensitivity but not the Wrangler. No problems with the passenger air bag light.

Saaaaame on the daylight sensor, it is incredibly annoying. I've tried any of the dimmer positions, which aren't really related (except in the highest and lowest settings, but worth trying I suppose).

Drive under a thin tree on the brightest day ever? Dark mode. Emerge from the tree? Maybe light mode after a while

It also automatically (or maybe its not on the same circuit, just the conditions are the 'dark enough') goes to dark mode with wipers, cause I guess nobody at stellantis has lived where we get sunny rain lol

There are some/few things I like about the infotainment and dash setup, but it feels very untested and mostly just years behind the others we've owned (vw, ford, somewhat mazda)

Does yours have a ton of lag at startup too? I'd say ~80% of the time, after starting the car, there is a ~5-15 second delay until I can change volume, fan speed, etc with the dash controls. I can start the car, turn the volume knob like crazy, and nothing happens. It usually starts working after the above delay.

I’m right there with you!!! Mine does lag but it’s only sometimes but it’s very annoying when it does.
Today I drove for 30min in bright day light but apparently my sensor thought it was not enough light so drove in dark mode the whole time.

have you talked to a dealership about these issues?

The airbag only turns off only if there is a small amount of weight in the front seat as a safety factor in case a child riding in the front seat. Empty seat it will stay on. It’s the same on almost every vehicle.

My headlight sensor is sensitive in the 2024 4xe Willys as well as my 2020 Sport S. Its a Jeep thing.

I have not; i assume they will just tell me "in spec" or "just the way it is" or something. Its not technically broken, it just kinda sucks, and its happening to many/all of us, so its also 'normal'.

For the lag, It would probably take some form of firmware update or something even lower level to fix.

For the light sensor, same boat probably, or even a relocation of the sensor / tweaking of whatevers surrounding it. I haven't investigated its location yet, perhaps there is some diy relocation or something we could do, but it would probably be pretty tedious

Are your windows tinted? Specifically, the windshield?
My front windows are tinted to match back; no tint on windshield or anywhere else

The daylight sensor is quick to turn on the headlights and dim the dash light but very slow to go the other way. This is the same for MY24 and the wifes MY 18.

As for the passenger airbag light, I don't even know where that light is. 😂

my windows are tinted including the windshield at 55% - this has not been an issue with literally any other vehicle I’ve owned including a jeep compass. I thought about removing the windshield tint but I need to make sure it’s not a sensor issue first because I did get the tints quickly after purchasing the vehicle so I don’t remember exactly how it was.

for example, driving home from work today - 5:30pm bright day light out - sensor is sensing the light and car is in day mode. I drove under a bridge, literally 3 seconds max, sensor changed to night mode. Head/tail lights turn on and all dashboard is in night mode. I couldn’t see anything. Sensor didn’t sense daylight anymore and stayed in night mode the whole drive home. Super frustrating that a $60k vehicle has an issue like this.

My Rubi has this. Annoying. Getting better at turning it down at shut-off.

You can change the headlamp sensitivity in the radio settings. This is normal.

If there was ANY fault in the airbag system you'd have an airbag warning light on the dash. I wouldn't worry about it.

Windshield tint WILL 100% mess with your daylight sensor. Remove it. Driving under a bridge will activate the headlamps in almost all scenarios. This is normal. Change the sensitivity in your radio if you want, but it will probably keep happening.

Also, turn your damn dimmer up so you can see your dash when the lights are on.
