Gaia has an incredibly steep learning curve. I stumbled around with it a bit, then gave up.

OnX is quite a bit easier to use than Gaia. Trails OffRoad is quite a bit easier to use than OnX, primarily since it focuses on the better trails and renders more than just trails
Well, I was going to test it but seems to be iphone only app

Never used on x. I have always been a user if Gaia for hiking and backpacking. Is the on x that much better?

Well I planned my first trip today with the family figuring give the App a try as well as get this new 2024 on the dirt only to find out the spot has been shut down and overgrown. WTH, so disappointed...

If you're comfortable with Gaia it should be comparable. I haven't used it though.

OnX has a ton of trails. So many around me (CO) that it's extremely challenging to find decent trails from the crappy ones. It does, however, let you record your tracks. That's an extremely useful feature. You can also drop and name bookmarks. Good luck on being able to see nearby towns or relevant roads though.

Trails Offroad doesn't have anywhere near as many trails as OnX, but that's a good thing. It has the best trails, not every crappy little thing that you're only going to do after a few years of combing through everything else. It also has a great follow mode that tells you what's coming up and highlights of that next section. I love that it tells you where you can and can't camp. It also has great navigation options to the start or end of the trail.

I use OnX to record / bookmark runs and TOR for everything else.

I'd probably feel the same way if I didn't have a trail cam.
I have a trail cam but I only flip it on when I need it and when I don't, I use the map. It's not like I am continually looking at either.

It turns out that I need a map with "every crappy little thing". Trails Off Road shows 1 trail in Oklahoma and 76 in Texas. Since we have a cabin in Oklahoma, I know there is a lot of trails there since we hit them often. We do usually end up in Arkansa since the Ouachitas go through both states. It is 3 million acres. For Texas it, which is where we live, it is missing one of the best places we have.

Maybe it's because I am on the free trial?

Just one for Oklahoma. Yeah, it'd make sense to see as many as possible in places like that.

TOR has 603 trail guides and 251 scout routes in CO. I'm guessing that OnX has thousands since it's so overwhelming.

Received an e-mail today from Jeep to sign up for onX Offroad - a 6-month trial. I was hoping it was an app on the UConnect 5. I don't see it anywhere. I did try to use on CarPlay, but it did not really work well. Maybe they are working on it still
