...I used to sell home entertainment equipment back in the day of Circuit City and hhgregg (jeez my history for working at places shutting down is alarming)...
Welcome to the club. My entire resume doesn't exist anymore.
- a tech blog that I started and ran for 4 years: shut it down
- RadioShack: bankrupt
- TripCase: discontinued
- Sprint: merged with/bought by T-Mobile
- Develop.com (acquired by Skillsoft)

I'm either the harbinger of death OR these companies simply couldn't exist after I left them.

I can join this group too! First job was Caldor (I am dating myself here), then Toy Works, Radio Shack, Circuit City, sold AT&T/Sprint/Voicestream cell phones, and a few other mom and pop places in high school that have been sold/closed

Same marketing misinformation on the Willys. The technology group for the Willys lists the 240V alternator and Alpine Radio for $1295. Well, the 240V alternator comes standard on the Willys so all you're getting is the Alpine Radio for $1295. Hard pass.

I'm in the market for my first jeep and looking at the MY24 Rubicon. Looking at the packages JEEP offers the technology group for an additional $2295. I'm having trouble understanding what you actually get from this package b/c some of it already comes w/ every model. The only thing I see that comes w/ it differently than the standard is the upgraded alpine audio system and off road cam, and I think navigation too? I see it comes w/ a lot of different "trials" which I am not interested in using. Can anyone confirm what all is upgraded or changed b/c to me it just doesn't seem that worth it for me.
This is how I understand it, too, and I'm going to opt out. Perhaps it's a good deal if someone really wanted all of it but only the front trail cam is something I'd be willing to shell out extra for. From what I've read, the aftermarket front cameras have been inferior to the OEM, because of limitations involving the old head unit. It might be wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping that the aftermarket will develop a more competitive front-cam alternative that works with the new widescreen display on the 2024. Even if not, I can happily live without and spend the two grand on other stuff I will value more.

The safety group is one thing I specifically avoided. I want nothing to do with it, and if/when manufacturers make it impossible to avoid, I'll spend as much time as I have left to remove them.

Front camera is included in the tech group, which is a must have… if the 2L turbo goes off restriction.

Yeah, I agree it's pretty expensive for what you are getting considering you can use Car Play with the base unit. I have a Rubicon X on order so I have no choice it's included in the trim.

I have considered the x for the body color flairs but that’s the only reason I want it. I plan on safari mode more than anything so a hardtop isn’t in my future but the body color hardtops do look awesome.

I was considering a straight Rubicon but by the time I optioned it out I was only $5700 less than the X model. Also I wanted leather so the Katzkin Leather would cost $2000 bringing the difference down to only $3700.

For the additional $3700 I get; painted top, painted flares, steel front and rear bumpers, 1 & 1/2 inch lift, better suspension, 35 inch tires, better sound deadening, it just ended up being a no brainer.

Sadly it's still worth it if you want the upgraded stereo but they added a bunch of riders on top of last year's model and upped the price.

Yea I don't really need nav if I have apple play otherwise I'll just use waze on my phone instead. I don't consider myself an audiophile by any means but I used to sell home entertainment equipment back in the day of Circuit City and hhgregg (jeez my history for working at places shutting down is alarming) and I know a decent sound when I hear one. I'm in a rental now and it's awful compared to my truck which as the Harmon Kardon upgrade. Also riders? What do you mean?

Yea I know, I did that to reference the Jeep vehicle from Jeep the company, I'll just keep it normal next time. And yea I've been all over that spread sheet and have a couple dealers w/i a two hour drive of me. Thanks!
You can use Waze within CarPlay. You don't need to use your phone for it.

I just purchased a 2024 JL Rubicon. I discovered it does not have Navigation programed into radio . Anyone know if this can be downloaded in ? Software upgrade ?
