I'm in the market for my first jeep and looking at the MY24 Rubicon. Looking at the packages JEEP offers the technology group for an additional $2295. I'm having trouble understanding what you actually get from this package b/c some of it already comes w/ every model. The only thing I see that comes w/ it differently than the standard is the upgraded alpine audio system and off road cam, and I think navigation too? I see it comes w/ a lot of different "trials" which I am not interested in using. Can anyone confirm what all is upgraded or changed b/c to me it just doesn't seem that worth it for me.

We are looking at ordering a 24 soon as well and yeah it seems like a lot for really just Nav and the alpine system. Sadly it's still worth it if you want the upgraded stereo but they added a bunch of riders on top of last year's model and upped the price.

Check out the spreadsheet in my sig before ordering. It might save you a few grand.

p.s. it's Jeep, not JEEP ;)

Yea I don't really need nav if I have apple play otherwise I'll just use waze on my phone instead. I don't consider myself an audiophile by any means but I used to sell home entertainment equipment back in the day of Circuit City and hhgregg (jeez my history for working at places shutting down is alarming) and I know a decent sound when I hear one. I'm in a rental now and it's awful compared to my truck which as the Harmon Kardon upgrade. Also riders? What do you mean?

Yea I know, I did that to reference the Jeep vehicle from Jeep the company, I'll just keep it normal next time. And yea I've been all over that spread sheet and have a couple dealers w/i a two hour drive of me. Thanks!

The off-road camera and auto dimming rear view mirror are part of the tech group upgrade, if I'm not mistaken.
The mirror... meh, but the off-road camera is a must have for a lot of people.

The base sound system is pitiful. The off-road camera is a nice add if you off-road much. But you could do these upgrades yourself for less.

Finally got to the point last year where the premium audio and the larger screen became standard on the Rubicon. Now we go backwards AND have to pay more money. Makes sense.

That's kinda where I am at right now. I do have big plans for taking it off road. I'm just outside of the mountains of NC and there is a huge Jeep group headquartered out of my city so monthly or bimonthly trips will be planned. I read I can get a front cam w/ screen for significantly less so I'm just trying to determine if I want the convenience of having it from the get go already good to go or if I wanna save a few bucks and go a cheaper route.

I was literally wondering the exact same thing. The tech package is an absolute rip off.

I believe you get HD radio on the upgraded units as well.

Don't forget about resale value a few years down the road. Stuff you add will likely not add value. Stuff included is all covered by warranty. And can be financed.

By rider I mean extras. Like ok this package will have alpine stereo plus nav then someone else in the room is like let's add this subscription then someone else adds another etc until you get this package of stuff people don't really want but if you want any of it you have to take all of it and you're going to pay more for that privilege.

I was also very confused on the Technology group. I wanted Android / Apple car play, and I saw the car play is standard on every MY2024 4xe model, but the Technology group still lists it out separately. I even asked a dealer salesman, and he said car play is standard on every model.

I went ahead and ordered it with mine. When I looked at the cost with or without it, it was only like $25or $30 a month difference. With so much now integrated into the head unit in cars, its not as easy to swap them out. Plus now I can spend the money on lift, wheels/tires, bumpers and so on, rather than a radio upgrade.

Plus like @Ratbert said, it will be better for resale if I decided to go that route too.
