AS the title says the back up camera sucks on my new jeep was wondering if there are any alternatives to upgrading to better camera on this jeep

A simple upgrade is the Baja designes hitch light. The main problem with the camera is the extremely poor low light performance. Getting more light helps tremendously. Hard to understand as my 2022 Ram Laramie had a stellar backup camera.

Recently rented a 2024 4xe. Backup camera was gltichy compared to our 2021 Sport. Somehow progress went backwards.

None... but it pays well.
My Rubicon has factory LED lighting. I have no problems with backup cam day or night. My side mirrors do help at the corners and the park sense warns pretty well. I actually removed the Oracle Lighting led reverse bumper lights because glare issues and annoyances to down stairs split level residence. Though I understand Jeep used a different cam module in later models due to supply from Covid. I guess 2018 to 2019 have the better module.

have you thought of looking in your mirrors? Much higher resolution. The backup camera is literally a government mandated check the box item, it's not supposed to replace your own eyes/ears.

Installing the ORACLE Lighting Flush Mount Tail Lights has made all the difference for me. The reverse portion of the lights are incredible bright and increase the visibility and clarity when using the camera or the mirrors. If you would rather just have the reverse light, ORACLE has you covered there, too, with the REar Bumper reverse lights.

I have the Oracle flush mount tail lights. The reverse lights in them are substantially brighter than the OEM reverse lights!
That being said, mirrors have never failed me 😉 (ok, I couldn't resist).

Except, of course, when the object isn't visible in your mirrors.

Yes, rock crawling at night can be a blast. We'll probably go out tonight to see the comet from the top of the mountains behind our place.

I like the idea but I don't like losing my blindside detection.

You don't lose blindside with either choice. With the Flush Mount Tail Lights you would move your BSM sensor over to the new tail light. It functions as expected. And the reverse lights for the bumper can't interfere in any way. Check out our install video on the installation tab of https://www.oraclelights.com/products/jlflush or here!!
