My dealer makes me feel like I’m a peasant he doesn’t want to deal with. Like he was all enthusiastic when he went through the order with me but now it’s like he doesn’t want to be bothered and takes forever to respond to my emails. Do you think it’s because it’s a direct order and not off the lot so maybe there’s no commission???

I would guess that he is just getting swarmed with calls, texts and emails and that’s why he’s short. It would be crazy if sales reps don’t get a commission on orders. There would be no sales reps left after Covid.

I skipped the dealer and called the operator at the dealership and said "I want to check the status of an order" and the operator actually looked it up for me and told me my build/ship date.

Honestly a lot of dealers/salespeople just don't really do well with emails. I would call and have them look it up, and there is information that is best conveyed in writing, ask to have them email it to you.

I can't say for certain how your dealership's commission structure is, but technically you aren't a sale yet. Just a "likely sale", so I would assume there is no commission till the keys are in hand and paperwork signed.

Yea, I'm on the fence with that last part. It means more will be paid off towards my JT Rubicon Im trading in, but it also gives these trade prices time to settle down. I quoted a week ago with Carvana and they were offering ~$49500, for a ~3 year old vehicle (with only 10k miles on it, thanks to wrking from home since 2020 ?)that was only ~$56k out the door when i bought it back in 2020. I just hope those stay high for a few months more at least.
Have you tried carmax? We're thinking about selling our mustang and carvana gave us a laughably low number compared to carmax.

We might just sell our mustang to carmax soon instead of trading it in with the dealer later because I know that will give us more money. BUT that would leave me with just our 2020 jeep and no other vehicle so I don't want to risk not having a vehicle if my 2020 decided to take a crap.

I only asked mine if he had a VIN so I could check insurance rates. I'm not asking him for a build date or anything of that nature because he's probably getting inundated with that. He told me to think 4 months and as much as I don't want to be patient, I just have to be. I'm pretty sure he'll still get commission whether it's an order or off the lot... but he'll have to wait for that just like I have to wait for my Jeep, I'm assuming.

Just tried to search for my order as I got my VIN back in June - but nothing was there. I entered my order date incorrectly because (of course) I didn't read the directions. :) Not sure if that matters...or if I can/should change it.

Getting anxious - summer is coming to an end here in the NorthEast soon.

Dealership just gave me an update...."Jeep is in D1 status with an estimated ship date of 9/5/22"

Ordered on 7/29/22.

Obviously I know that this date is most likely unrealistic, but it's nice knowing that it's showing up.

Well, the dealership received my deposit, and I'm being told to check back on Monday to get a status, which should include the VIN. I'll wait until then to figure our the production status, etc... Hopefully, we have the Jeep before Christmas...

I'm about right in the same timeframe as you.

Ordered on 7-27 and my ship date is still showing 9-3.
No new update from the dealer, as it still shows as the same date (having received that initial estimate about 2 weeks ago)

We'll see what happens!

I'm thinking that there are tax implications of doing a trade-in versus selling it yourself. My accountant (a.k.a. "my wife") is currently on a boat in Washington, so I can't ask her. Hopefully someone else can speak up on those details.
