Hello! First time posting in the forum. Looking to buy a used JLU Willy's and found a few I'm interested in. There is one out of state I liked:

2021 Hellayella Willy's
Engine: 3.6 eTourqe
Price: $33,590
Miles: 25k
One owner - no accidents - leased/personal

So, I asked for a lot of photos, including underneath. I've had a few TJs over the years and rust was always an issue, so I am a bit more cautious when I see it.

With this JLU being just a few years old- does anyone think the amount of rust might be too much? According to Carfax, it did spend it's life up in Michigan, which makes me think of all the salt used in the winters.

Just wanting to make good choices here!

Man, your pics made me nervous enough that I grabbed a flashlight and checked the underside of my rig (2022 w/37k miles / Colorado) for rust. I didn't find any, but it was just a cursory glance at the areas that mimic your pics.

Just one data point that could indicate that it might not be normal.

I have a 2021 Willys.. I bought it in February of 2022 with 24K miles. It was also a lease .. I live in Michigan as well.. It looked basically showroom when I bought it even underneath, and it still does. I have made sure to go to Krown every year though and so far I have zero rust anywhere. I will be doing Krown every November to make sure I never get a rusted underbody. Depending on how severe the rust is you could clean it up.. hit it with some paint.. then make sure you use krown once a year. Mine has spent 3 Michigan winters with me and it still looks brand new under there..

I'm glad I wasn't the only one with some alarm bells going off when seeing that. I mean- some little spots seem normal but this seems too much for the year of the vehicle. Just made me question if I should move forward or not.

Thanks for the reply!

Yours looks beautiful! I haven't messed with Krown before but will look into it for future use!

I guess I could try and clean it up then paint, but I don't feel I should have to with a vehicle just a few years old either. :/

I think this sat outside most of it's life because the front/rear bumpers are pretty faded too. That didn't bother me much because I don't have a garage and planned on changing them out eventually anyhow.

Appreciate the response!
