The SOT was made for Florida, it's the ability to open and shut at the drop of a hat that makes it perfect. I drive with mine open all the time, listen to the radio just fine and talk on my hands free bluetooth. Then if the rain gets a little too heavy, I close the top.

We have MY22 Rubicon XR w/SOT and MY24 Rubicon X w/SOT. I've done a comparative analysis between the two: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/2022-jlur-xr-vs-2024-jlur-x.124626/

This is my dilemma. I love the look of the Jeep but I’m not in love how she handles and rougher ride etc.
I know I should be looking at something like even the Grand Cherokee and honestly I have been looking at all suvs but that Jeep look always draws me in.
it’s like being attracted to that girl you know is bad for you but just strikes a desire if you know what I mean.
The new Land Cruiser might be a good option if you like vehicles with retro styling. Has IFS, so it will handle a lot better than a Jeep, and with a permanent roof, it should cut down on a lot of the road noise.

They've had some QC issues in getting them out, which I believe are related to the sunroof, but it's a brand new vehicle, so I wouldn't be too concerned. Toyota is already addressing it. Biggest issues to me are the price point and they're currently hard to come by, so as a result, there's not a lot of room for negotiation. All of them I've found are already spoken for so I don't have first hand experience yet, but my girlfriend has been considering one.

Hi all, had a 2020 Rubicon with the Skytouch roof that I had to sell due to circumstances a few years ago, and debating ordering a 2024, (or 25).
Besides price increase as anything improved since the 20? Things I didn't like were the audio system, seats seemed to lean forward, the wandering issue, squeaks and rattles inside the cabin., and a noisy cabin especially on the highway. I know it's a Jeep and not expecting Lexus ride but curious to any "refinements".
Still love the look of them and I guess now the Rubicon comes with 35's instead of 33's my '20 had?
Any other things to consider in a new Rubicon?
Front windshield defroster debacle resolved?

Guess I’m weird lol rather have it closed don’t like the sun beating down on me or the road noise etc. I’ve had sunroofs on my cars I rarely if ever open them. Prefer listening to my music hence why the complaint about the 2020 system.
Ok, so for the 2023 vs 2024 Wrangler Rubicons:

The Wrangler comes with 1 of 2 sound system options, the normal audio system without subwoofer and the premium Alpine system with subwoofer in the rear cargo area.

For 2024, the screen has been upgraded from the 8.5" uConnect 4 to the new 12" uConnect 5. The screen is brighter, clearer, more responsive and faster to load applications. There have been complaints about light reflection on the new screen that wasn't present on the older 8.5" due to screen finish. In order to accommodate the larger screen, the 2 center round rotating air vents have been removed and rectangle ones placed under the screen. Some folks like it, some don't. I don't think it looks bad at all.

All the Rubicons now come with a full float rear axle and upgraded tow capacity from 3500lbs to 5000lbs.

The new uConnect comes with 1 of 2 options, with Nav and without. The system without nav is paired with the lower end sound system, with Nav comes with the Alpine audio system. Jeep also removed the whip antenna from the passenger side panel and placed a badge in its place. The antenna is now incorporated into the new Gorilla glass windshield. The dash top cavity/coin/duck tray now has the microphone for Bluetooth calls in it. It used to be mounted in the roof above the rearview mirror.

The overhead speaker bar has been modified a bit from 2023 to 2024, to accommodate side curtain airbags, so they moved the speakers and dome lights around a bit. There have been complaints that the new bar is a bit too far forward due to new speaker positions and due to them jutting out a bit further than previous generations, taller people can bump their heads on it with the seat all the back. I test drove 3 of them and didn't have any issues, and I'm 6'1.

The XR - Xtreme Recon edition is both a trim and a package. On the Rubicon XR, the build options are very limited and come with leather seats. The regular Rubicon with the XTreme Recon package adds 35" tires with " headlock capable" wheels, but the headlock ring is an aftermarket Mopar purchase. It comes with what they claim is upgraded suspension (still red rubi shocks, maybe retuned and a bit longer) and the Mopar hinge gate reinforcement, to accommodate the new 35" tire hanging off the back. It also adds 4.56 gears to turn the 35s with the option for factory 4.88s. There's a few other minor things included, but those are the high points.

Jeep now offers for 2024 a steel bumper package that comes with a factory installed Warn 8K winch as well, but it's a pricey addition.

IIRC, they moved what used to be the cold weather group (remote start with heated seats) to the technology package.

The hard top now comes with an expanded heat and noise liner, but it has about the same effect as the old one, but is still better than nothing.

I'd highly recommend going online and playing with their vehicle builder to see all available options as well as to get an idea of what you're looking at as far as price goes.

Cheers!

I thought the 4 doors were still at 3,500 because of the Class II receiver. And 2 doors at 2,000.

hardtop + sound assassin strips + hothead headliner = a min of 4+db down from regular hardtop sound levels. You will def notice that you don't hear your tire hum that much and significantly better audio experience with the headliner.

I went from 2020 JLU Sahara to 2024 Rubicon 4xe, in my observation
  • Steering is much much improved in stock state. Its a combination of cast iron steering box, 4xe's having cast iron knuckles, and the 2024s having a beefier sway bar end mount with bigger bolt size. Overall feels much stiffer and accurate tracking compared to the wandering mess that was my 2020.
  • Side curtain airbags are a much welcome addition. I haul 2 kids on the jeep all the time.
  • The sound deadening additions are subtle - there is a lot of additional felt like white padding behind the plastic panels in the rear and behind the door panels. I did notice some thin layer of sealing/gasketing on the windshield that seemed extra compared to the 2020 with just the rubber gasket. I do not feel it added any effect though.. wind noise seemed similar.

AFAIK the 5k tow cap is strictly due to the new Dana full float rear axle on the 4dr units. My 2023 4dr diesel is capped at 3500 lbs as it does not have the full float axle. That was introduced as a stock item for 2024.

The 2024 is worth it purely for the side airbags. Do not neglect safety into your decision.
Over my 30 years of owning cars, I've bought like 3-4 dozen airbags and never used a single one of them. What a waste of money! 🤣

I think you are joking, but in case you aren't:
I have worked too many accidents for me to count. 25+ years ago, you never saw side airbags on cars. I would see what appeared to be light impacts from the side, and drivers/passengers would die. Now, in most side collisions with side airbags, the occupants are not hurt. Many of these I just shake my head and wonder how a little airbag can help so much.

They will all have squeaks and rattles. Wandering is usually something specific to that Jeep, but none will drive like a car or even a truck for that matter.

A Gorilla Glass windshield came on my 2024, hope it’s more resistant to chips and cracks than the windshield on my 2019. I like the wireless CarPlay. Luke warm regarding adaptive cruise control but I dont use it all that often.
