Would losing one summer of topless Jeep action due to waiting on a 2019 have value to you?
Nope. I live in Texas. We have about 9-10 months a year to go topless. And I never planned on having it for this summer anyway, so no loss. I’m exercising restraint and paying off the last o my mortgage before buying it.

My real dilema is colors, I think I want Mojito but I need to see it in person first and in the back of my mind is ohhh what colors for 19 it is not that far away!

South Florida is topless year round except for perhaps two weeks and middday might still be hot enough. :)

Something else to consider if one tends to lease is jumping on a good deal now expecting that within the next three years all bugs get worked out and all options including engines are available with hopefully some user experiences to provide feedback. My brain hurts juggling all the scenarios. Might end up getting so exhausted I just find something reasonably close to want and sign and drive. Lol

Paid off mortgage? Good on you and smart thinking!

As far as waiting for 2019 goes, everyone has their reasons and needs. For me, I have funds to buy outright, want to make sure I get the color choice I want, and see no use or benefit with the BSG. So no real reasons to wait.

Yes Colors ,
Was initially trying to order a Mojito 2 door , and like you wasn’t sure about that green but did see green with envy which I believe is the same and it was very nice. Having said that I’m hoping that Mojito is a carryover for 2019 since it’s just getting started now. But if they decide to go with another green , might like that better so. LOL

I think we will see most colors carry over. Mojito hasn't even begun to roll yet and Ocean Blue just started. Not to mention Sting Gray low numbers and the yellow that got squashed. I've never seen a car company have more problems with colors than FCA.

Soooo, does anyone know if dealerships typically make the same deals on units in the lot or in transit as they will on a factory order? I checked local inventory for shits and giggles and happened to see my exact configuration listed as “In Transit” to the dealership I intend to purchase from. If I can find this situation just about the time I’m ready to buy, it could save months of waiting that most poor souls have to endure. So anybody have experience getting 5% below invoice on in stock/in transit Jeeps?

Depends on the dealer. I think there was a dealer in Tennessee that was doing it on in stock JLs. I know @Travis@TriCityJeep in Eden, NC is doing it. Honestly, though, it seems like the exception instead of the rule.

I always considered summer the off season for Jeeps. 95-100 degrees, blazing sun with 100% humidity and massive thunderstorms every afternoon. No thanks! I'll hide under a buttoned up Jeep with the AC blasting until fall.

I’ve only ever driven a Jeep twice. One time in Florida and once in Texas. You are right. The Texas trip it was 97-103 with 90%+ humidity the whole time. Top off, but a sunshade cover on. AC on full blast the entire time. Sweltering. It was certainly a different experience than cruising around in a Lexus with air conditioned seats keeping your butt crack from getting swampy. :) But fun nonetheless. That’s why I’m getting a hardtop and headliner. During spring and fal the top can come off. Summer, maybe not so much.

IMO, your wait for a ‘19 will be MANY months. The ‘18 2 doors and turbos are only just starting to roll off the line. “Late availability” features (power soft top) and colors (mojito) aren’t even ready, yet. FCA is adding BSG to the ‘19 V6. All together, my money is on a delayed, staged rollout of MY19. You won’t see a diesel until next summer or later, is my bet. Plus, price will go up for MY19.
Bsg ???

For me its so close to the 2019's I am waiting. With the production delays and immediate loss in value by the time I would actually get a 2018 vs a 2019 with probably a few months difference. There are just a few things I am willing to wait to see if there are any changes. It's worth it to me to wait for more color options and I know its petty but I'd like to see a Key Fob that isn't so large.
