I know your making a point and I get it BUT I think what we are going through with JL's is a little different.By that logic my 2007 is a 2006 because I got it in November ‘06. But it was actually manufactured even earlier.
I bought a 2011 2 dr JK in July 2011, knowing the 2012's would have the new engine - FCA was offering $500 on the 2011. When I purchased the 2011 I was aware that a 2 or 3 month wait would get me a 2012, I chose not to wait - that was my choice.
When I ordered the 2018 2 dr JL I was told 6 to 8 weeks to delivery - that would have been end of March to early April. When I made this choice, it was based on what I knew at the time and not what I have learned in the last 30+ days after ordering. My dealer told me today, mid April for production start of 2 dr (have no idea if they even know).
I think the whole JL confusion and lack of forthcoming information, makes this a little different than just buying a model mid year. Knowing what I know now, I would have waited for 2019's. At this time I believe I am going to wait it out, not happy about it, but waiting. I check jeep chat weekly and check with the dealer weekly.
As others on this forum have pointed out, FCA is not required to do more than they are doing with our updates and some think we are just complaining or whining BUT, FCA could and should be doing a lot more.
Sorry, just my 2 cents worth. Wish I had a stress reliever shaped like a new JL to squeeze every now and then.
thanks for listening -
