By that logic my 2007 is a 2006 because I got it in November ‘06. But it was actually manufactured even earlier.
I know your making a point and I get it BUT I think what we are going through with JL's is a little different.

I bought a 2011 2 dr JK in July 2011, knowing the 2012's would have the new engine - FCA was offering $500 on the 2011. When I purchased the 2011 I was aware that a 2 or 3 month wait would get me a 2012, I chose not to wait - that was my choice.

When I ordered the 2018 2 dr JL I was told 6 to 8 weeks to delivery - that would have been end of March to early April. When I made this choice, it was based on what I knew at the time and not what I have learned in the last 30+ days after ordering. My dealer told me today, mid April for production start of 2 dr (have no idea if they even know).

I think the whole JL confusion and lack of forthcoming information, makes this a little different than just buying a model mid year. Knowing what I know now, I would have waited for 2019's. At this time I believe I am going to wait it out, not happy about it, but waiting. I check jeep chat weekly and check with the dealer weekly.

As others on this forum have pointed out, FCA is not required to do more than they are doing with our updates and some think we are just complaining or whining BUT, FCA could and should be doing a lot more.

Sorry, just my 2 cents worth. Wish I had a stress reliever shaped like a new JL to squeeze every now and then.

thanks for listening - ;)

How would canceling your order help you enjoy a Jeep this summer? Are you really going to base your decision on information given by a "specialist" whose job it is to identify quality issues that are trending on forums? (FWIW, if Jeep Cares is set up like Ford's identical program, it's likely they're not even employed by FCA.)

I get that everyone is disappointed by the delay; I certainly am. No way I'm canceling, though. I don't see how that would help. I don't want a 4-door, and I don't want to pay more for a 2019 which will probably also be delayed. (They're changing the recipe by adding BSG. You really think they'll start rolling out 2-doors at the same time as 4-doors in October? Nope!)

Good things come to those who wait...
No way would I cancel either. Summer Jeeping weather (75 degrees) doesn’t start up here until July anyway. And I still have the next ten years of summers to enjoy as well!

Why are they still producing JKs if the lots are full of them?

And if they do start with 2.0L, that’s just another blow to those who ordered early, since it just recently became an option.

I sold my JK in January in anticipation of a February 2018 start production date for the two door JL. I put a deposit on the two door JL. I'm terribly disappointed in FCA. I was suffering from "Jeep loss anxiety" and bought another JK. I am a Jeep addict and could not wait until the JL was finally delivered. I hope all of you hear some good news soon!

There has to be a silver lining in this mess.....

Once you have a VIN you can't cancel an order. I ordered a Sport and tried to cancel to order a Rubi when I got a good price. The dealer ordered my Rubi and will have no problem selling the Sport.

There is a possibility the delays are purposely created by FCA to help sell the remaining JKs. If so you fell for the trap.

I sure hope it is not true that they won’t be starting 3.6L production in April. I’m really hoping to get mine before Memorial Day weekend.

Probably not, but if you stock your lots with 2-door automatics, putting out only 2.0t’s is an easy way to pad every deal by $1000 in revenue.

2004 Honda Accord coupe, V6 6-speed manual; ordered 2018 JL Sport 6MT with A/C and anti-spin. D status.

Also helps their bullshit starting MSRP become more and more impossible. 2.0T auto ain't cheap.
