2 DOOR JL build/order discussions master thread

If I would have known it was going to take this long I would have considered waiting for the JT. I placed my order on January 18th. The dealer told me they would receive it in 6-8 weeks. Obviously the dealer is not the most reliable source but I was hoping to receive my Jeep by mid March. Now it sounds like it might be closer to May. I am really tempted to cancel my order but I'm afraid the JT will have the same issues with delays. Wouldn't mind holding out an additional 9 months but I think it will be much longer.

So, my JL Wrangler Sport S hardtop that I ordered the week of Thanksgiving last year has slipped from a D1 status and ship date of 2/26 back to D without shipping status. Jeep Customer Care indicated that Jeep isn't stating production of the 2 Door Wranglers until mid to late March. Has anyone else heard this?

Just had talk with Jeep Chat and it doesn' sound good for 2 doors

strange - seems inconsistent with what some folks are hearing about late march and april delivery (expectations) - if true, that’s a serious bummer

Me : Good morning, I was wondering if you could update me on my build status

xxxxxx: Good Morning, certainty not a problem! Just give me a moment to check this out for you

xxxxxxx : Your Jeep has been in stage D for 13 days, the factory is still waiting on parts to arrive to begin building

Me: Do you have any idea how much longer for parts?

xxxxxxx : The longest it usually takes is 30 days, if it past that time frame we would reach out to the factory to find out what is going on

Me: OK, so it could be another 2 weeks or so before it's even built, correct?

xxxxxxx : Depending on what they are waiting for , yes it could be

Me: I will be picking up out of state, that is why I am wondering about status.

Me: OK, thank you very much, I'll check back in a week or 2, is this the best way to find out about build status? or is there another option?

xxxxxxx : Oh understandable! Once the vehicle gets closer to shipping we have a ETA date of arrival at the dealership as well. Also the way to check out the status is through an agent like myself via chat or phone

Order date 2/5/18: 2 Dr Rubi, Hard top color match, fully loaded, (ex smokers group / floor mats)

Starting to think I should have gone the 4 door route - maybe change my order?,....nawwww, I'll wait.

Odd thing is, don't vehicle manufacturers begin building the new year model late in the previous years quarter?
Why is it that FCA is building these so late in the production year? is it because of the 2018 model year JK's?

That is insane. How can you not have a single 2dr Wrangler built and delivered before the Summer? Seriously unacceptable.

So,,, i just got done chatting with Jeep customer service and the guy couldn't even tell me how long my jeep had been in D status. i don't even think he looked it up. told me the same thing from a month ago and said to contact dealer for info.

I just did a chat & was told they haven’t been given any info on when two doors will start. I feel like they’re all just making things up at this point. “Geee, I think I’ll use *this* response today.”

Just got off the phone with a supervisor at Jeep.com who told me unequivocally that 2 door Jeeps will NOT be made until mid March, 2018.
