I suspect the FCA makes more money on the 4 doors; plus, they will sell many more 4 doors than 2 in this JL cycle!

They most certainly do. I remember after the first year of JKU production in 2007, Chrysler reported how pleased they were to be able to augment 2dr model sales with the new configuration. They've now gone way beyond augmentation. Last year, 2dr models only made up 20% of total Wrangler production with 80% being 4drs.

Just got off the chat line with Jeep Customer Care...They reported that production of the 2dr should start the beginning of March.

I too like that the 2 doors will grow increasingly less common as compared to the 4 doors. They (2 doors or 4) are both great so do not flame me - just prefer the 2 door as it is what I have always owned and all I need. In fact, it would not surprise me that the ratio grows to 8:1 with the JL.

Despite my steadfast disbelief, people love social media, big government, and 4 door Wranglers. Go figure. Just please make my 2 door soon because top down, doors off, goofing around in a Jeep soothes many of my problems!

Just got off the chat line with Jeep Customer Care...They reported that production of the 2dr should start the beginning of March.

It's just a constant move of the goal posts. Production was supposed to start on Feb 12, then the 19th, then the 26th, now early March.

I was able to to chat with Jeep Customer Care (thanks FireWire), only I got even less information than you. I'm now told that the printed POC I have from Feb 13 which has me at D1 with an estimated ship date of Feb 24 is no longer operative and that I am listed back at D. The rep had no knowledge of whether 2 door production was underway or a possible scheduled start date stating that information was not available to them.

For any other Canadians following this, the US Jeep Customer Care chat did ask me for my address, which let them know I was in Canada, and that wasn't an issue for them.

I have a 2dr, manual, soft top on order. It was ordered Jan 18.
About 10 days ago I checked on the status. FCA rep told me it was waiting for parts to start the build.
Yesterday I checked again and was told all the parts were in.
That seems like a good sign.

I got the same comment from my dealer and he also said my build should be starting this week.

From Jeep Customer Assistance today: 2 dr JL Rubicon, 8 spd Auto, Hard Top. Ordered 12/12/17

we spoke earlier today! I sent your file to one of our Jeep Specialist regarding the status of your vehicle build. The Specialist has relayed that: -Production of the 2-Door Wranglers is not slated to begin until mid/late-March. - We would encourage you to contact us back in late-March/early-April for an update. We are extremely sorry for this information and the delay!

She wouldn’t provide any reason for the delay.

Did you contact FCA to speak to a rep or do you know someone that is a rep? The reason I ask is that I've been trying to find a way to get info on Canadian orders from FCA. I do have dealer provided POC updates, but they are not coinciding with factory tracking. US residents can get updates from chat on their FCA website, but I can't find a chat function on the Canadian site. I'm not desperate enough yet to try phoning and going through the hold and transfer hell.

First time I used it they asked for my address, gave em the actual one then they said they couldn’t track canadian orders and that I had to ask my dealer. Then tried again using my cousin’s in NY’s address, been working since then
They need a US address, won’t check that you do live there lol

Well that’s a bummer! I wasn’t able to order until 02/15, so mine will be a while. My current lease ends April 17th. I’m hope hope hoping I have her by then!!

I basically ordered the same one you did, 2 door as well. Just a day earlier than you. Really curious how long this is going to take!

They told me last week of February this morning but I have no faith in anything they say. They escalated my request for info for some reason this morning on their own accord.
