I ordered my Jeep on 2/15 and am patiently waiting. I have a 2012 JKU that is lifted with ARB from and rear bumpers. Still looks great and draws attention. I have several CJ7s and like the look of them without doors and top. I just do not care for the 4 door look the same way.

I am hoping to see mine sometime in May.

Part shortages get resolved, if thats the biggest issue we are fine. That is way better than they cant get the track bars to stay on and the engines are bursting into flames while all the computer flash 666 on the dash.
my only question is why the hell are they still building jks this late in the year? every dealership i visit has dozens of jks still sitting on the lot.

My wife worked in Electronics Distribution for 30 years. I read her your question. Most likely Jeep had committed to buying a certain quantity of parts from suppliers in order to get better pricing. Small quanities could have a 15-18% margin
while large orders 3-5% margins. Her team sold $175 million a year in electronic parts, so I think she's pretty accurate on your question.

yes , but the post said they were short on parts for the jl, because they were still building jks , so the parts must be interchangeable

Agreed. However, that explanation raises two fundamental questions for me:
  1. Why start at all if you only have parts on hand for 5 vehicles a day and lose the economy of scale?
  2. Why the frequent movement of vehicles into and out of D1? That status has been described by FCA staff as meaning all parts have been assembled and ready for build. Apparently, not the case.

It's the same engine so there's one part that is interchangeable.
The dimensions and design of pretty much everything else is different. I can't think of anything meaningful that could be interchanged.

yes dimensions change but manufactures are stll always looking to save money . i would bet most of the electronics are the same . just going by what the plant worker posted, suppliers are thin from supplying both lines.

well, if we're going that route,

axles, transfer case, transmissions, dashboard, front seats, windshield, headlights and taillights, tires, etc is a list off the top of my head of what's interchangeable.

half of the interior, the body, and shorter exhaust and driveshafts are notable non-interchangeable things

keep in mind I'm talking about interchangeable between 2 door and 4 door JL's. Not JK's.
