2 DOOR JL build/order discussions master thread

OK, For what it is worth, my dealer told me today that his factory rep said production of 2 doors officially starts Monday 4/9/18 and my Sport S, 6cyl, manual, hard top is scheduled to be built 4/10/18. My order date was 12/18/17.

ok i just got off the phone with a customer care supervisor, after asking jeep chat to have one call me. i explained to him that i have been told multiple dates , for the begining of 2 dr production and was just looking for an honest answer to when production will start. He said no one should be telling you any dates for production, because production has not been scheduled yet. He said there is a estimated date for 5-14 , and yes the delays are for led lights and premium soft tops. I specifically asked him if any 2 doors were going into production before that date , and he said no.

If the soft top and led lights were the cause then why wouldn’t they build ones with hard tops and standard headlights? Doesn’t make much sense as they can build the 2 doors at the same time as 4 doors, so they could at the very least be building those orders right now. I live near Toledo and my dealer is good friends with a plant supervisor and he told me the manager said they weren’t gonna start building the 2 doors until JK production ended. I asked why would it matter if the JK was built on another line and he believed it was due to resources and man power and that they were concentrating on the JL line to pump out 4 doors only because of the higher demand. Now if that’s the case I do not know, but it seems plausible.

Honestly, is there really any point to talking to Jeep Chat or calling support lines? Sounds like they are misinformed, or possible that things are changing so rapidly their knowledge base can’t keep up to date.

I figure I will know when I come here and see a crap ton of “In D1!!!!!111!!” Posts.

Nice video. I would like to see some more 2 door Rubicon videos (after the NZ media test and reveal) but harder to find vs 4 door videos. Please post links if you have them.

I might have to check out of the 2 door game if the delay to May becomes true... at that point they probably won't bother until 2019.

An automotive journalist should report this story. Maybe it would result in good information from FCA.

2 door buyers keep the real Jeep image alive, as shown in commercials to sell the things, and they really deserve better than this botched roll-out...

Have a two door, hardtop rubicon, ordered December 5th. Nothing showing up, as of yet. Guessing it'll be updated any day though.

Ordered my Sport S 2-door on Dec 22. (Deposit made 12/02) Now in KZ status.

How did you find out that you were in KZ status? I hope 2 doors are being built, I just would like to have definite information. There are none showing on the forum tracking spreadsheet. Did you sign up for that?

Had made up my mind to cancel my order, and my dealer contacted me letting me know I’m in D-1. Confirmed it on Jeep Chat too.

The only D1 you are in is a dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, It is an area which the 2018 two door Jeep JL Wrangler exists. You my friend are in the Twilight Zone!
