I was using velcro too but the whole assembly would still "bounce." So, I thought I'd try this way for a while. Seems to work really well so far and the 48 inches is just the right amount of tension.
The velcro straps that we got with our Jeep are just for sun-rider mode. They work well at keeping the top from boppin' around at high speeds or in high winds.
According to the owners manual, the straps are used for both. Like I said, they don't do much in full down. I'll see how the velcro does, but I understand what you are saying. Maybe I'll use both sets of straps. :)

Hmmmmm..... I must have missed that! Only thing I read they were for was sun-rider. Will have to check that out again! Lol!

I just checked again and couldn't find where the owners manual says to use the velcro sun-rider straps anywhere else other than in the sun-rider mode. Would you mind when you get a second sharing the page number where you read it saying to use the straps when the top is fully opened? Thanks!

Does anyone know what the straps with the snap ends are for? I got the velcro and the snap straps in the same bag but darn if I can figure out what they snap on to!

There is snaps at the top of the back window. I assume it would be to roll up the back window.

Good morning, 2-door friends!

Got some great news yesterday: my JL has finally progressed from D1 to I!

I ordered in May but experienced delays because of the 2.0L Turbo option, so this is kind of a big deal for me! Hopefully the rest of the process (inspection, accessories, delivery, etc) will move at a brisk pace... :fingerscrossed:

Don’t try this. The snap-in straps are a relic from JK. The new ziplock windows will not roll. Another thread on this topic, somewhere...

Also, if you drive with just the back window out the sides will eventually blow off and you’ll fill your cabin with exhaust. A whole thread on that topic, too. Search google with site:jlwranglerforums.com

Found some really nice 48" bungee cords at Home Depot today to keep my top from bouncing around in the wind for 5 bucks each!

God, I sure wish I got a soft top! I am SO envious! I think I’ll order one when I get back from vacation, maybe some of you will have more opinions as to what to get. By September, HOPEFULLY, weather will be more bearable here on the Georgia coast. We had 90 degrees and 97% humidity this week! The only one loving it is my husband!

Great news! You might be the first turbo on our forum! Can’t wait to see pictures and impressions. Hope it moves along fast for you. I haven’t been following the turbo forum, if there is one, obviously things are now happening. Hurray!!

Thank you, Cristina! :) :like: :) :like:

And yes, you bet there’s a Turbo forum! It’s in the Technical section under 2.0L. The most active thread is “Any 2.0L Jeep Wrangler JL in sight for delivery?”. We have ourselves a tight knit little community! Some members have been (im)patiently waiting since placing orders in February, and finished units are only just now starting to trickle in, so we’re in a bit of a frenzy right now LOL. I don’t have numbers to back this up but I think we’re an even smaller group than the 2-door community, however the camaraderie and information-sharing has been terrific through the looooong wait.

I love it! Mine is the standard soft top (not the PST) and it's wonderful. We're getting that same heat & humidity down here in Central Florida as well, so I'm nearly always doors off & top down and the wind feels awesome! You will definitely enjoy the soft top if you get one. Oh, AND your GoPro too!!!!!! Hahahahaha!:like:

Page 121 of the 3rd edition. Or just scan the 2 door soft top section and you'll trip upon it.
