Ok! After a rough start back in business :) As soon as I got home windows came off and black grill installed. Tomorrow I drop it off for protection film on hood and hinges, followed up with ceramic coating. Next week I should have my new sliders then it’s off for some off road fun!

I didn't use film this time planning to just get the black grill once the original gets pitted enough. Ceramic coating sounded like the win until I looked into the cost. Yikes

Anywho, that's one slick looking machine. I do look forward to replacing the grill at one point. :like:

It's a bit different up north... The roads aren't so much "ice" as hard packed snow, often with sand, gravel, and other stuff embedded into it, basically forming a frozen concrete. You actually get more traction on that than the icy roads that we see periodically down South. We we get it, it's freezing rain that coats everything and freezes. It is VERY slippery. I've driven up north on the hard packed snow roads and it is completely different than what we have down South. Around here, it only happens every 20 years, but I used to live a couple hundred miles north of here and it would happen every 5-10 years.
I respectfully disagree. Black ice is a staple up here in CT.

Yup, I agree. Lots of black ice here too. Then we get the crazy fun weather where it goes from -30C to 0 (32F) and everything is melting, then back to -30 over the course of a few days! Super slippery! Add a light dusting of snow over that and look out! Anyway, enough about snow! My Jeep is awesome in the summer as well! Love it!

Tells us again how our winters are ;)
Was stationed north of Chicago during the winter of 1980-1981 and with 3" of ice on the road, ya'll thought the roads were in great condition. It was a more sand impregnated frozen surface than we get down here in the rare time it freezes. I can remember climbing out the the hatchway on the roof of the 3rd floor of the barracks and hopping down into the snow bank that covered 2 1/2 floors on the lake side of the barracks so that we could go dig the front door out of the snow so that everyone could get out. I have no desire to be on first name basis with a snow shovel ever again in my life.

Other than that, my experience is in places where there were ski resorts or the north side of the Grand Canyon during the winter (18" of snow, but my XJ chugged its way through it). It had a lot more traction than when we get the ice storms every 5-10 years a few hundred miles north of here when I used to live there.

So, yeah, your winters suck... And our 11 month long summers suck... In fact, LIFE SUCKS, but the alternative is not that great either...

Your showing you age again navyvet :), but me too i remember when some towns would mix gravel in with their salt to give better traction, but the practice was stopped awhile ago.

Good morning all!

Feels weird not checking trackers or emails from FCA anymore! I am sure I will get usd to it ;)

Dropping the Jeep off this morning for the detail work, will have it back Saturday or Sunday.

Aside from that initial problem with a vacuum pump, everything has been great! No steering issues like some have reported, though it certainly feels different. That I attribute to coming from sports cars for many years. My wife drove it and she can be sensitive to feeling safe in some vehicles. She loves it and loves the way it drives. Much more than my old Corvette or the Miata. This is both a good and bad thing. Got a feeling I dropped a bunch of money just to become a part time Kia Soul driver:cwl:

Much better to go out to the garage and visit the Jeep than visit the tracking sites, call Jeep etc. Glad tou are done with all that, enjoy your JL!
