There’s always going to be someone who brags about how much more money they saved than you. I think if you are happy with the price you paid then you got a great deal.
Umm...you're kind of missing the point. No one is talking about what price anyone paid, or if they are happy with it, or if they got a better deal than someone else, etc. The point is whether or not the price that was agreed upon (whatever that price may be) when the order was initially placed is going to change. If my order was placed after the price increase went into effect, then so be it, but if my order was placed prior, it's another story. But honestly, I am not too worried about it. My dealer is really good. On a somewhat related side note, I own a 2017 Rubicon Hard Rock. I initially placed the order on a Saturday in August 2016 - the order was for a 2016 model. When my dealer went to place the order on the following Monday, they noticed that the order banks for 2016s was closed and that they could not place the order for a few more weeks when the 2017 banks opened up. They assured me that if there were any price increases, that they would eat them. Well sure enough, the 2017s got LED headlights and there was a 6 or 7 hundred dollar price increase. Not only did my dealer eat the cost of the price increase, but they also let me add the tailgate reinforcement package which wasn't an option on the 2016s ($800 or $900 MSRP I think) and they did not charge me for it.

EDIT: I poked around a bit and it looks like the increase was $500 (to both invoice and MSRP) plus an additional $250 to the destination charge. Is that correct?

For those of you cancelling JL orders and buying a JK because you are not happy with FCA. You are still supporting them by purchasing a JK even it is from a Ford dealership. The delays could caused by FCA on purpose to increase JK sales. If so, you fell for the trap.

How does buying a used JK at a Ford dealer generate revenue for FCA? Ford sold a new truck, the dealer made money off both sales.

The trap is the new Golden Eagle sitting on the showroom floor of my local Jeep dealer - if somebody wants to save some bucks and wants a two-door, FCA can extract the final dollars out of a decade old design and plant tooling before converting. It's clearly a business decision and they should have ONLY released 4-doors this year, and did a summer early release on 2-door as 2019.

I'm not anti-Jeep. I WANT a JL badly - having owned the JK for 5 days now (this is my first Jeep) I know I was headed down the right path. It's awesome, and I think the JL is just that much better.

I simply didn't want to directly support FCA for a 2018 model year. Let's get the supply and assembly issues settled and see what 2019 brings.

I thought I had really bad ADD and Obsessive disorder . . . then I started following this thread. LOL.

Yes, the communications from FCA have been bad, but it is pretty normal to have a production delay on a big ticket item. If a couple of months is a deal breaker on a Jeep that you will likely keep for many years, then bail. Otherwise, chill. My dad gave me a good piece of advice when I was a kid.

Any JK on the road road is walking billboard for FCA. Also now that you purchased that Jeep from Ford that means one less person will be able to do the same so they will most likely be visiting a jeep dealership.

Well said! Great advice from a Tri-Cities boy!

That is correct, effective March 1st. Word on the forum seems to be that most sold orders placed before that should be "price protected" from the increase.

When I heard that Fiat was taking over Jeep, I thought, the Italians who were blundering idiots in WWII are taking over Jeep! $#%&*. and now that I've seen the f**k up they've done with the 2 doors it all makes sense. Man up Jeep, and make all 2018 2 doors 2019 models, and add in the off road pages, after-all Jeep has is so far behind on their production schedule at this point why not?
I WAS LOOKING AT A FOUR DOOR JL TODAY. DO ANYONE KNOW IF THE 2 DR WILL HAVE A REMOVABLE BACK SEAT OR A FOLD DOWN BACK SEAT ... SEEMS LIKE THE 4 DR LAYS DOWN FLAT ... WHICH WOULD BE NICE IF IT WORKS IN A 2 DR. ROKET

The 2dr back seat can either be folded up vertically or removed. It does not lay down flat.
