I have a blanket over the back cargo area anyways. That solves the problem of debris falling into the speaker.
Does it then mute the music or do you turn up the base to account for the sound reading blanket?

I’m hoping this post will help dispel any fears that the sub being in the floor in 2-doors will not sound good or will be tough to maintain.

I’m prepping my ’15 Rubi (with the subwoofer in the floor) to return it to tomorrow (lease is up after three years) so was out washing/cleaning it so it’s completely emptied out. I drove it around with the stereo on full blast listening to some tracks with heavy bass. Then, did a full-on grocery run and placed all the bags over the sub so it was completed covered with heavy bags. As far as I could tell there was no degradation in bass at all-if anything it sounded better…here’s a good, quick explanation of how subwoofers work (start at 0:38):

I know that I have posted this next part a few times already, but adding it here in case some have missed it.

The in-floor subwoofer is extremely hearty and definitely waterproof. I spilled an entire bottle of Coke shortly after I first got it. Removed the sub, brought it in the house and soaked it and sprayed it out a few times. Figured it was probably ruined anyway so I might as well try. It still works perfectly three years later.

I took some shots of the sub today as well to show how it looks after three years of use. Not sure how helpful these will be or how much you can actually see (please excuse the dog hair), but it does show the grill is still in great shape-no scrapes, dents, etc and you can’t really see it but there isn’t much dust/debris under the grill either:

I hope this all helps. My opinion is that besides losing the storage space there is really no real downside for this setup. Feel free to ask me any questions if I haven’t covered something.

cute pup!. Looks like the grill hole size is large enough for sand to get in. Here in the SE, there is sand attached to everything and it gets everywhere.

If the speaker is just for base sound I can live without it. Does anyone know
if it can be taken out and 2dr cover installed ? Good space for tools etc.
How about a 2dr pic of space without Alpine Base System.

Glad everyone is enjoying their new rides. Hoping all good this week for those waiting.
Question: On touch screen after a phone call and you end there is a Green time counter
top left side. HOW DO YOU reset or cancel it. It counts how long ago you received a call.
It keeps counting and radio won't work. I push everything it goes away. What is the
simple way to reset this crazy counter. Thanks
Ive seen that timer but it goes away after I finish the call. I was going to look to see if I could cancel/stop it from appearing.

Nice update. I agree on the stock height - I possibly will go with a Mopar 2-inch lift but not until they solve that issue with bowing springs. Great pix!
Try doing a bit of research before you actually go with the mopar lift kit. I have a friend thats the regional manager for a pretty big off road stores, what he mentioned to me that mopar springs are pretty shitty. That they are thinner than most of the aftermarket manufactures. Could be the reason some were having issues with the bending and rubbing.
