No trust me I get it. What I don't understand is if they are going to not offer the options that the serious off roaders want..as niche as they are..then why use the fact that they have gone back to jeeps roots as a sales tactic.. do you get what I'm saying

And shit give me a damn Wrangler without a motor, send the motor in a crate..ill drop it in my damn self if it costs so much. It would be an easy enough task seeing as botth engines clearly can bolt to the same transmission.
(Obviously I'm joking but you get my point)

Sorry to have obviously offended you..clearly you must pick up a lot of groceries in your 4 door...

Also sorry for the poor grammar and autocorrect errors I'm on my phone
You can’t really gripe about them straying from their roots when your main complaint is no diesel, an option that has never been available.

So you have to have a 2 Door Diesel with a manual to be a serious off-roader? I guess since this is the first time a diesel has been offered on a Wrangler means that all the past Wrangler owners weren't serious off-roaders. Puhleeze. I would take my JLUR anywhere you want to go with your diesel 2 door, plus some routes you wouldn't want to follow me.
Whatever man..thats not what I'm saying and you know it... What you do know however is that most serious offroaders have been begging for a diesel motor for years..

You can thank new age soccer moms and pavement pounding dads. Without them, the Wrangler wouldn't exist at all. As large as enthusiast communities are and we who actually wheel our Jeeps, if we were the only ones buying them, the Wrangler would've died a long time ago.

It's funny you mention the 2-door dying, though. It's sad, but true. However, I may go back. I love my Unlimited JK, but that 2-door red JL Rubi they've been showing off for the past couple weeks is bringing back fond memories of my TJ days.
Sad but true... we've created a monster

I get what your saying, and I’ve been dreaming of a manual diesel wrangler for years, but if I think about it, what does a heavy, high torque diesel have to do with Jeep heritage? There has never been a Wrangler offered with so much torque from the factory, and if you go back to the original Willy’s, that was the opposite of high power/ torque and high weight. We could go in circles on this but I have jumped off the diesel wagon due to the wait and the unknown cost premium and will be excited to order the V6 with a manual as soon as the color combo I want hits the order system.

Like another guy pointed out, that is what it amounts to, the diesel option in the 2 door with a manual transmission. Begging, but have never had one. I guess guys with the 3.6 will never be "serious off-roaders".

When it's the only option sure. I'll keep my 4.0 TJ though..
