If you order the wrong light you can always do this too.

Which one did you order for the tailgate ? I installed one for my hard top in the glass but just recently picked up a soft top so I’d like to come up with a way to use my existing rocker switch In the cargo area under the 12v plug.

I ordered the JK version.

So, I finished up my install. I installed a rocker switch and a reed switch. So, the light shuts off, automatically, when the tailgate is closed. I used a neodymium magnet epoxied to the tailgate, instead of the supplied contact. I think it turned out well.

I agree with Project JL, it would be awesome if you could post the parts you ordered for this install. Wiring diagram would be a bonus too. Thanks!

So I installed mine last week. Haven't hard wired it yet but plan on doing it this weekend. Need to figure out how to tap what wires for the 12v cigarette lighter. Also need to find a switch I want to use.

Here is mine in complete darkness out in RMNP this last weekend.

Awesome switch you have there! Where did you source it?
thanks. It’s this one
Quentacy 19mm 3/4" Latching Pushbutton Switch 12V Power Symbol LED 1NO1NC SPDT ON/OFF Black Metal Waterproof Toggle Switch with Wire Socket Plug (White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RY6NKL2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_StFPDbHPN5RAJ

the only thing is with the harness it’s a bit longer than I’d like on the back side so it causes the panel bulge just the slightest bit. Not really noticeable but if there’s a shorter version available it would be even easier to re attach the panel. If you search for Latching Button on amazon you’ll see a ton of options.

Reposting from another thread...
I installed my rear window LED light strip a couple of weeks ago, but I finally rewired it to turn on when the glass is opened. I used a magnetic relay switch that can handle a small load and tapped power from the unused 1-touch sliding roof (pins 13 and 14 on the back connector).

Got mine wired up tonight with a push button switch. I put the button up out of the cargo area to keep it from getting bumped constantly... I need a new soldering iron, mine is too big for small connections...

wiring from the light down through the channel was the easy part, wiring the switch took me forever because of the small amount of room I had to work.

Ok guys, I have a question that maybe you could help me with...

I want to finally install this Saturday. For those of you with a switch that has a light in it like the halo switches, did you wire it so the light of the switch stays on all the time or only when the brawlee light is on? also, is the 12V to the outlet on all the time or only when the vehicle is running? I'm thinking the 12V is live even if the vehicle isn't running and thus you may not want the switch's halo light to be lit up all the time ie. overnight running out the battery.
to be clear, I'm talking not about the brawlee light but the little light inside the switch.
thanks for any help!
